However, the company is said to have defended its actions before the capital-markets regulator, arguing that investors did not lose money because of its actions as it shifted loss-making bonds of an eventually defaulting non-bank lender onto its own balance sheet to prevent erosion in investor wealth. Sebi's notice reportedly served a couple of months ago, alleges a lack of segregation between the mutual fund and portfolio management service activities, questionable inter-scheme transfer of securities compromising investor interests, and the transfer of certain securities to offshore funds ahead of potential downgrades, two sources aware of the development said. Invesco responded to the regulator's notice last month, one of the persons cited above said. Emails sent to Invesco Asset Management India and Sebi remained unanswered until the publication of this report.

smallcap stocks have been the flavour of the season for Dalal Street investors, giving superlative returns. However, the sharp rally has prompted mutual funds to book profits in some of them. The monthly MF holdings data showed that the domestic institutions have reduced exposure to 10 such mid- and smallcap stocks for three consecutive months. Of the 10 stocks, nine of them have given double-digit returns of up to 43% so far in the current financial year, while one has turned multibagger. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Bank of India, Thermax, Uno Minda, and Vedant Fashions are the five midcap stocks which saw mutual funds reducing their exposure for three months in a row, according to the data shared by Nuvama Institutional Equities. The five smallcap stocks that saw selling by MFs for three consecutive months were Galaxy Surfactants, Ingersoll Rand, BEML, Home First Finance, and MTAR Technologies. With this, Honasa Consumer has emerged as the latest addition to the growing list of new-age stocks finding traction among domestic mutual funds. An analysis of shareholding patterns of new-age firms such as Zomato, Paytm, Delhivery, Nykaa and PB Fintech, showed mutual funds have increased their holdings in several of these companies slowly but significantly over the last four quarters.

Gold Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) have witnessed increasing inflows in the last few years. Data shows that Gold ETFs witnessed net inflows of Rs 1660 crore during July-September 2023. The inflows are expected to increase this month as investing in Gold is considered auspicious by many during Dhanteras and Diwali festivals.
