Mamata was silent as women in Sandeshkhali were tortured on basis of religion: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Friday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of maintaining silence on the issue of Sandeshkhali, where complaints of sexual abuse have emerged against TMC leaders, and said the BJP «will not spare single culprit and will hang them upside down». While addressing an election rally at Majdia in Ranaghat Lok Sabha seat in Nadia district, Shah alleged that Banerjee was «misleading» people on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) and slammed the TMC dispensation over alleged corruption cases in the state. On the incidents in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders have been made, Shah said it is a matter of shame that «Mamata Banerjee, despite being a woman chief minister, tried to protect the culprits».

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Their silence ominous, says Chidambaram on demand to probe PM Modi's 'Ambani-Adani' jibe
P Chidambaram on May 10 questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over Rahul Gandhi’s demand of enquiry into the Prime Minister’s allegation that the grand old party has received "tempo loads of black money" from industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. The silence of the two leaders is ominous, said the former Union Minister, Chidambaram. Terror IS couple that ‘plotted over 100 blasts’ in Delhi get up to 20 years in jail
Jahanjeb Sami and Hina Bashir Baig, a couple residing in Delhi's Jamia Nagar, have been sentenced for their ties to the Islamic State (IS). The duo, arrested in 2020 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, were found guilty of attempting to establish a caliphate and plotting 100 blasts in the city. Sami received sentences ranging from three to 20 years, while Baig was awarded two seven-year sentences. The investigation revealed their online personas as active radicalizers linked to IS operatives in Syria and Afghanistan. Sami and Baig, both in their mid-30s, moved to Delhi from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. Sami, with a BTech and MBA, worked for a UK-based firm, while Baig, after her MBA, had worked in banks before taking a break. They rented a flat in Jamia Nagar's C Block, initially enjoying weekends outdoors. However, the 2019 anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic kept them indoors, where they spent time surfing the internet. Arrest and Investigation

In Maharashtra, oppn faces toilet, khichdi and other cases
enforcement agencies against its candidates or office bearers. A BJP spokesperson, however, denied that the Opposition was being targeted for political reasons. Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) Sena's candidate for Mumbai North-West, Amol Kirtikar, has received a notice from Enforcement Directorate hours after he filed his nomination. The notice was in a case of 'providing substandard khichdi' to migrant workers after the Modi government's overnight nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of Covid-19. Similarly, Nashik police served UBT Sena district chief Sudhakar Badgujar with an 'externment' notice. He has several cases against him and it is not clear why the notice was served on him. However, he was in the news for allegedly dancing in a farmhouse in 2016 with Salim Kutta, an aide of gangster Dawood Ibrahim convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. The notice was served hours after Shiv Sena minister Dada Bhuse said, during a campaign for Sena MP Hemant Godse, that CM Eknath Shinde should look into the Badgujar and Kutta issue. Godse is engaged in a tough fight with UBT Sena's Rajabhau Waje in Nashik.
