BTS’s agency HYBE cannot catch a break! Amid the ongoing feud with Min Hee Jin, the CEO of its sub-label ADOR, the K-pop giant is now entangled in yet scandal — allegations of chart-rigging. According to a Korea JoongAng Daily, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has launched an investigation probe against the K-Pop giant to verify whether or not it has engaged in chart manipulation. On Saturday, the culture ministry of South Korea announced that it had received a petition urging an investigation into the alleged chart rigging practices and subsequent blackmailing of the BTS agency back in 2017. The case will now be referred to the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca), a state-run institution responsible for overseeing various facets of popular culture in Korea. Kocca will conduct a comprehensive inquiry and seek a response from HYBE. If the allegations are proven to be correct, BTS may lose all honours bestowed on them including the Order Of Culture Merit.

DGTR recommends anti-dumping duty on water treatment chemical from China, Japan
commerce ministry's arm DGTR has recommended the imposition of anti-dumping duty on imports of a chemical, used for water treatment, from China and Japan to protect the domestic industry from cheap inbound shipments. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has recommended the duty on 'Trichloro isocyanuric acid' after conducting an investigation on the dumped imports of the chemical from these two countries. «The authority recommends imposition of provisional anti-dumping duty on the imports,» the DGTR's notification has said. Bodal Chemicals Ltd had filed the application for the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on the imports from China and Japan.

Delhi Spice Scam: 15 Tonnes of adulterated masalas seized, 3 arrested
Delhi Police has uncovered a massive racket involving the production and sale of adulterated spices in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar area. Two factories were raided, leading to the seizure of a staggering 15 tonnes of spurious spices. Three individuals, including the owners of these processing units, have been arrested in connection with the case. «Acting on this information, a team was formed, resulting in raids on May 1. During the operation, Singh was found operating one of the processing units, where he was producing adulterated turmeric using non-edible and banned substances such as spoiled leaves, rice, millets, wood dust, chilli heads, acids, and oils.» said the DCP. Despite their attempts to flee, both Singh and Sarfaraj were apprehended and interrogated. Singh confessed to be the owner of the manufacturing unit, while Malik admitted to supplying these adulterated spices, the officer said.

In a case against EY affiliate firms SV Ghatalia and SR Batliboi, which began in 2013, the ICAI disciplinary committee issued an order on April 26 that barred and fined the two partners and directed them to sever all associations with the global entity, EY Global. The partners in question had retired a few years prior.

Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has operationalised an advanced 2.0 version of its information technology system, armed with artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, to check money laundering and terrorist financing crimes in the country's economic channels. The upgrade of the technological backbone was required as the volume of data (suspicious transaction reports) flagged by banks and various other financial institutions to the FIU for analysis and further dissemination to investigative and intelligence organisations has been «increasing», a latest report for the 2022-23 fiscal said.
