Will probe root cause of rail accidents, conspiracy will not last long: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Tuesday said any conspiracy to cause railway accidents will not last long and the government will soon unveil an initiative for the protection of the 1.10 lakh km railway network across the country. The home minister's remarks came in the wake of a series of railway accidents, most of which appeared to be attempts at sabotage as obstructions were placed on the railway tracks. Addressing a press conference to mark 100 days of the third tenure of the BJP-led NDA government, Shah said he had discussed the issue of railway safety with Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the last two days. «As far as accidents are concerned, we will investigate the root cause of this. Whatever the reason, the government is committed to addressing the issue. If this is a conspiracy, it will not last long. If there are gaps, they will be plugged,» Shah said with Vaishnaw by his side.

Pakistan's ex-PM Imran Khan criticises opponents, day after his questioning in jail
social media post, Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Imran Khan on Sunday launched a scathing attack on his opponents, including the chief justice, the establishment and his rival politicians. The 71-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in a message from Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail posted on his X account that the government was reportedly going to introduce a constitutional amendment to rewrite the rules about the top judiciary. The former cricketer-turned-politician lashed out at the government for trying to tweak the laws in order to allegedly control the judiciary. «The occupying mafia and its handlers are fighting only for their survival, regardless of the national interest. The attack on the independence of the judiciary is also a link in this chain. All institutions in the country have been destroyed. There remains a Supreme Court which is the last hope and support of the nation,» he said.
