NEW DELHI : IIndia and Sri Lanka on Friday agreed to start discussions on an Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ECTA) and unveiled plans to cooperate on power, digital payments, connectivity and green energy. The ECTA with Sri Lanka will focus on tariff and non-tariff barriers as well as investment rules.

President Droupadi Murmu seeking Indian citizenship, as she plans to live in India with her children and now husband Sachin Meena.  This comes amid an ongoing investigation by the Uttar Pradesh Police and Anti-Terrorism Squad for her illegally entering India, and increasing demands of her deportation to Pakistan.  The 30-year-old woman from Sindh had crossed over to India illegally in May to be with her partner Sachin Meena in Greater Noida. According to a Hindustan Times report, Haider in her petition to president Murmu has requested permission to stay in India. She claims to have been deeply influenced by Indian culture and traditions.  In her petition, Haider also pleaded for mercy from President Murmu.  Seema (30) and her Indian partner Sachin Meena (22) were questioned by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Anti-Terrorist Squad on Monday and Tuesday.

Investing.com — Storage fills for natural gas in the United States came in as expected for last week, and there was not much of a change either in weather forecasts. Yet, U.S. gas prices rallied some 6% Thursday in a development market watchers said could have more to do with the Russia-Ukraine situation.

Virgin Money is set to close nearly a third of its branches, citing «changing customer demand.» The decision may lead to some staff facing redundancy, though the company aims to redeploy some affected employees. The Unite union estimates up to 260 jobs could be lost as a result of the closures. This move is part of cost-cutting measures that have seen many high-street lenders shut down thousands of branches since the financial crisis. Virgin Money's branch closures are driven by the industry's belief that online and mobile banking services have reduced the demand for traditional branch services. After completing the closure program by the end of the year, Virgin Money will be left with only 91 sites.

Delhi ahead of their return to their homes from relief camps, an official statement issued on Wednesday said. The decision to provide financial aid to families was taken after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met victims to assess the situation. He expressed his concern for the flood victims, said a government statement.
