Namma Yatri will kick off subscription fees for drivers on its platform, starting September 1. Auto rickshaw drivers in Bengaluru will have the option to either pay Rs 25 per day for unlimited trips, or Rs 3.5 per trip for up to 10 trips per day, beyond which the trips will be free, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) enabled firm said in a statement on Tuesday. Drivers opting for the daily payment option of Rs 25 don’t have to pay on days they don’t take more than one ride through the platform. The firm is “committed to maintaining this fee structure for one year and actively exploring further price reductions in the future,” Shan MS, chief growth officer of Juspay, which developed the mobility app, said in a statement. On average, auto drivers on Namma Yatri earn between Rs 150 to Rs 160 per trip currently without the subscription in effect, a spokesperson for the firm told ET.

Canara Bank announced the launch of its UPI Interoperable Digital Rupee mobile application that allows users to pay with digital currency by scanning any merchant's UPI QR code. This move is a part of the Reserve Bank of India's Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) pilot project. «With the introduction of this feature, customers will be able to scan merchant UPI QR codes using the app and make the payment through digital currency. Further, this feature empowers the merchants to accept digital currency payments using their existing UPI QR codes in addition to the UPI based payments without the requirements of a separate on boarding process for CBDC,» the company said in a release.
