India mobility opportunity massive, underpenetrated; have barely scratched surface: Uber
Uber India and South Asia Prabhjeet Singh has said, terming it an «incredibly important market» that presents a multi-decadal opportunity for the ride-hailing platform. Singh told PTI that mobility opportunity in India is «massive» and «underpenetrated». The company believes it has «barely scratched the surface» despite the strong line-up of products and services and the robust growth. «There is so much more to be done even though we are growing leaps and bounds,» the top honcho of Uber India said. The mobility giant will continue to bring cutting-edge innovation to the market and also take India-first innovations to the rest of the world, he emphasised.

eVTOL player ePlane raises $14 million, anticipates parallel aviation industry & new jobs
ePlane Company, incubated at IIT-Madras and aiming to become one of the main players in India’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) mobility sector, on Friday announced the closure of a $14 million funding round. With this funding, ePlane is poised to become the largest-funded eVTOL player in India, the company said in a statement. Founder of the startup and IIT-Madras aerospace engineering professor Satya Chakravarthy told ET that the government's support and announcement of certification standards have helped strengthen investor confidence. “Among the new investors, we can clearly see that their conviction about air taxis is much stronger compared to their interest in just commercialising drones,” he said. The Series B round was co-led by Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures, with continued participation from Micelio Mobility, Naval Ravikant, Java Capital, Samarthya Investment Advisors, Redstart (from Naukri), and Anicut.

Do fresh KYC of PM Jan Dhan accounts due for updation: DFS secretary to banks
Nagaraju on Monday asked banks to carry out fresh KYC (know your customer) process for Jan Dhan accounts which are due for updation. The PMJDY was launched in 2014 and approximately 10.5 crore PMJDY accounts were opened in mission mode during the period from August, 2014 to December 2014. These PMJDY accounts are becoming due for periodic updation or re-KYC now after 10 years. Nagaraju chaired a meeting with all stakeholders for carrying out fresh Know Your Customer (re-KYC) process for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account holders, the finance ministry said in a statement. During the meeting, Nagaraju suggested using all means for doing re-KYC — such as fingerprints, face recognition, taking declarations where no change in KYC documents occurred — through all channels like ATM, mobile banking, internet banking, and other available digital channels.

Electric 3-wheeler subsidies for FY25 halt as sales hit cap
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. New Delhi: The removal of a central government subsidy will likely make popular electric three-wheelers dearer for the rest of this fiscal, potentially disrupting their sales from manufacturers such as Bajaj Auto, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility and Piaggio, among others. The annual cap for number of subsidised e-three wheelers under the PM E-Drive scheme has almost been reached for this fiscal, and the Centre has decided not to extend the subsidies beyond the cap for FY25.
