Cashfree Payments on Tuesday said it has received the Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) licence from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). With the PPI licence, the Bengaluru-based payment aggregator can offer digital payment solutions such as mobile wallets, prepaid cards and vouchers, which customers can load with funds and use for transactions. “The PPI licence opens up a new field of opportunity for innovation in the payments landscape. Our focus has always been to provide secure, flexible and efficient payment experiences to Indian businesses as well as their customers. The PPI licence will help us build offerings that let internet businesses retain and grow their user base,” said Akash Sinha, CEO and cofounder, Cashfree Payments.

The census starting from next year would update the National Population Register, also changing future census cycles completely, official sources said. The Registrar General of India is holding consultations with all the stakeholders and state governments, officials said, adding that around 30 questions have been prepared for citizens. The questions include the number of persons residing in households, whether the head of a household is a woman, whether they have a telephone, internet connection, mobile or smartphone, bicycle, scooter or motorcycle, and whether they own a car, jeep or a van, among others.

The first flight from Port Blair to Kolkata will take off at 8.35am and reach Kolkata at 10.45am. The second flight will leave Port Blair at 12.20pm and reach Kolkata at 2.35pm. On the other hand, the first flight from Kolkata to Port Blair will take off at 5.40am and reach Port Blair at 7.50 am. The second one will start at 9.20am and reach at 11.40am, the airline statement said.

This would be the third such instance in two months. «Mobile internet, mobile WiFi and mobile data services of all service providers will remain suspended from 8.30 am to 4 pm in the interest of holding free, fair and transparent written examination and also to prevent arising of any law and order issues having a bearing on public safety,» the order said. Mobile internet services were earlier suspended on two days in September during the conduct of similar exams by the state-level recruitment commission.
