If largecaps start catching up, the broad market may not cool off immediately: Rohit Srivastava
Rohit Srivastava, Founder & Market Strategist, Indiacharts.com, says “if you look at both daily and weekly charts, the smallcap index has like an 86 reading on the daily chart, it can appear high. But in extended moves, these readings can remain there for a prolonged period of time. So I will give it a while. I think there is a need for some kind of a pullback which may not happen immediately. So I will push it forward till the largecaps really catch up.”We are headed to 20,000 but it looks like we have hit a break as far as the last 1-2 hours are concerned. Do you still believe that the rally to 20,000 is intact and likely to happen in September itself?Yes, that remains my view. In the short-term intraday, we are just going to be watching 19,530. What is important about 19,530 is not just the 20-hour average but also if we take the last two highs from where the market sold off and drew a trend line, that support also comes in at around 19,530. That is sort of a breakout point that will get retested between 19,530 and 19,520.

An expiry a day! BSE, NSE join forces to make daily derivative expiry a reality
Notwithstanding the fact that nine out of 10 individual futures and options (F&O) traders end up losing their capital, stock exchanges BSE and NSE have seen a sharp surge in retail derivative trading, supported by introduction of multiple index options. Earlier, option traders used to focus only on Thursday as being the weekly option expiry for two key indices Nifty and Bank Nifty, but now every day is a weekly expiry day. Option buyers and sellers now have multiple options to choose from. Here's how the derivative expiry calendar looks like now:

Rupee falls 5 paise to 83.09 against US dollar
rupee depreciated 5 paise to 83.09 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday as elevated crude oil prices and strength of the American currency weighed on investor sentiments. Forex traders said the rupee is trading lower on strong dollar and sustained foreign fund outflows over the past few days. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 83.08, then touched 83.09, registering a decline of 5 paise over its last close. On Tuesday, the rupee plunged by 33 paise to close at 83.04 against the US dollar. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell marginally by 0.09 per cent to 104.71. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.07 per cent to USD 90.10 per barrel. Saudi Arabia and Russia shook the oil world when they extended production cuts to December taking Brent oil to USD 90.19 per barrel, Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury and Executive Director Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP said. This spelled tighter supplies in the next four months as markets expected a supply cut only up to October.
