Nvidia, Foxconn to Develop New Class of Data Centers Focused on AI As per the report, China's natural resources department has initiated on-site investigations into the land usage of Foxconn enterprises located in Henan province, Hubei province, and other areas. The developments were disclosed in an exclusive report by Chinese media major, the Global Times.

HONG KONG—China is strengthening restrictions on exports of graphite, a key mineral needed for the production of electric-vehicle batteries and fuel cells, the latest move in an intensifying global tussle over the building blocks of critical technologies. Citing national-security concerns, China’s Commerce Ministry said Friday that exports of several categories of natural and synthetic graphite materials would require permits under a system used to control trade in items with dual civilian and military uses starting Dec.

BEIJING (Reuters) -China will require export permits for some graphite products from Dec. 1 to protect national security, the commerce ministry said on Friday, as it faces growing challenges from foreign governments over its manufacturing dominance.

Investing.com — The Dow eked out a gain Tuesday, but upside momentum was stifled by a jump in Treasury yields following stronger retail sales data that underscored ongoing strength in the economy, stoking fresh fears about another Federal Reserve rate hike before year end. 

(Reuters) — Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) said it may be forced to move some business operations out of countries that are in the purview of U.S. export curbs after the Biden administration on Tuesday expanded its restrictions on export of certain high-end technology.

The United States Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) released a notice on Oct. 17 expanding the already existing export controls of artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China. 

Wall Street is drifting following the latest signal that the U.S. economy remains solid, though perhaps too strong for the Federal Reserve’s liking

advanced artificial intelligence to China and other countries. The measures are designed to prevent China from acquiring the cutting-edge chips needed to develop AI technologies such as large language models, which power applications such as ChatGPT but that US officials say also have military uses that present a national security threat.

China that circumvent government restrictions, a US official said, as part of the Biden administration's upcoming actions to block more AI chip exports. The new rules, details of which Reuters is reporting for the first time, will be added to sweeping US restrictions on shipments of advanced chips and chipmaking equipment to China unveiled last October. The updates are expected this week, other people familiar with the matter said, though such timetables often slip. The new rules will block some AI chips that fall just under current technical parameters while demanding companies report shipments of others, said the official, who provided information on condition of anonymity. A spokesperson for the US Department of Commerce, which oversees export controls, declined to comment. The latest crackdown on tech exports to China coincides with US efforts to thaw difficult relations between the world's two largest economies.
