Best corporate bond mutual funds to invest in October 2024
corporate bond funds in October 2024. These schemes invest at least 80% of their corpus in the papers of the highest-rated companies. This makes them relatively safer than other debt schemes such as credit risk funds. They are also safer than gilt funds and long term debt funds that are highly sensitive to interest rate changes in the economy. You should pay attention to these two factors: safety and interest rates. Safety became a crucial factor for debt fund investors after a series of defaults and downgrades in the debt space almost three years ago. The shutting down of six schemes by Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund shook conservative investors in debt schemes. Though the environment is different now, you should still proceed cautiously.

Meta Platforms defeats shareholder lawsuit over child safety claims
Meta Platforms and Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg won the dismissal of a lawsuit claiming they misled shareholders in Meta's proxy statement about their ability to ensure the safety of children who use Facebook and Instagram. In a decision on Tuesday, US District Judge Charles Breyer in San Francisco said the plaintiff Matt Eisner failed to show that shareholders suffered economic losses from Meta's alleged inadequate disclosures. He also said federal securities law did not require Meta to detail the severity of sexually explicit content and sexual exploitation of children on its platforms, or all the child protection strategies it decided not to adopt.

As North America gains traction, IT companies note softness in Europe
Europe was a bright spot for the Indian IT industry's growth when its chips were down. But as North America has started gaining traction for the IT services industry, the other side of the pond has begun to show signs of softness for many of the top IT companies. Experts also say Europe is facing a decelerating economy which is unlikely to improve in the near future and, hence, clients are pulling back hard on discretionary spends and looking to delay large projects. While IT leaders' commentaries on Europe didn't reflect on their Q2 numbers, analysts say they are largely reflective of deal pipelines and will show in coming quarters. Infosys in its Q2 earnings call said that in Europe, the automotive sector was challenged recently while discretionary spend remains under pressure.

Did CBS edit Kamala Harris's interview? The news network has finally broken its silence
Kamala Harris in the interview on ‘60 minutes’, reported New York Post. The network had to come with this acknowledgement as the former US President Donald Trump appeared with the claim that the editing was deceitful and it held an intention of making the appearance of Kamala Harris more articulate. According to New York Post, CBS News has rejected the assertions made by Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump firmly and labeled them as ‘false’. CBS News asserted that the editing of different portions of Kamala Harris’s answer to the repeated question regarding the actions taken by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amidst the unrest situation in the Middle East asked by the interviewer Bill Whitaker was done for clarity. New York Post noted that in a statement, CBS also came with an explanation that this version of the show has appeared to be more succinct with the allowance for a broader level of discussion with the segment of 21 minutes. Karoline Leavitt, the campaign spokesperson of Donald Trump has argued that the admission of CBS has confirmed the accusation of manipulation made by them for presenting Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris in a way which is more favorable.
