United Nations Security Council, Ukraine’s ambassador in New Delhi said. Ukraine wants India to “moderate” talks between the two warring nations and use its ties with Russia to convince Moscow to join peace talks, Oleksandr Polishchuk said Tuesday. Ukraine has proposed India hold a peace summit before November 2024 aimed at ending the conflict, but it’s not clear yet if New Delhi will agree, he said. “If India is aiming for permanent seat in the United Nation’s Security Council to serve its own interest, it is setting the bar too low,” Polishchuck said.

UN General Assembly kicked off in New York with the presence of the representatives of Palestine, which have been given a seat in the General Assembly Hall next to the UN member states. Palestine is not a full member of the 193 member UN body. Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar-Bhatapara district on Sunday, officials said. The incident took place this evening in Mohtara village when the victims were working in a field, a district administration official said. «As per preliminary information, these persons gathered at the edge of a pond near their field amid heavy rainfall when lightning struck. The deceased were identified as Mukesh (20), Tankar Sahu (30), Santosh Sahu (40), Thaneshwar Sahu (18), Pokhraj Vishwakarma (38), Dev Das (22) and Vijay Sahu (23),» he said.

Amit Shah on Saturday assured that Jammu and Kashmir's statehood would be restored after the Assembly elections a rally addressing BJP workers in Jammu. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest yet again and not allowed to address the Friday congregation at Jama Masjid in downtown Srinagar. Rajnath Singh on Friday responded to his earlier statement that "Armed Forces need to be prepared for war". Sajad Lone on Thursday released a party manifesto promising to fight for the restoration of Article 370, 35 (A), statehood and setting up a judicial commission to probe into the rigging of 1987 elections. Lone released a 12 point manifesto here is Srinagar and claimed that the party plans to field its candidates on 20 to 25 seats in the upcoming three-phased assembly elections in 90 constituencies, starting from September 18. Lone himself is likely to fight on two constituencies of Handwara and Kupwara in northern Kashmir. “Our main focus of the manifesto is dignity and development. We will undertake all exhaustive measures to pursue the cause of restoration of Article 370, 35 (A) and statehood,” said Lone. He further said that the political parties will have to unitedly agitate for restoration of Article 370. “I also feel that Article 370 has been defamed and blemished for ever. I hope that a day will come when J&K will have a solution at par with Article 370,” he said.

Bangladesh's Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus in an interview with PTI on Thursday attacked former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is seeking asylum in India. Younus, who is a Nobel laurate, said that the former prime minister had to keep quiet if India was to «keep her until Bangladesh wants her back». This comes after Hasina made political statements, which Yunus termed «unfriendly». «No one is comfortable with her stance there in India because we want her back to try her. She is there in India and at times she is talking, which is problematic. Had she been quiet, we would have forgotten it; people would have also forgotten it as she would have been in her own world. But sitting in India, she is speaking and giving instructions. No one likes it,» he said.

US welcomes any nation that is willing to try to help end the conflict in Ukraine, White House national security communications adviser John Kirby has said. His remarks came after he was asked at a press conference on Wednesday about President Joe Biden's call to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the latter's trip to Ukraine that was preceded by his visit to Moscow, and if he thought India could play a role in ending the war. Pope Francis on Wednesday urged political leaders in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority country, to guard against religious extremism, which he said distorted people's religious beliefs through «deception and violence». In his first speech during an ambitious 12-day journey across Southeast Asia, where Christians are a small minority of the regional population, the pontiff said the Catholic Church would increase its efforts toward inter-religious dialogue in hopes of helping tamp down extremism. «In this way, prejudices can be eliminated, and a climate of mutual respect and trust can grow,» the 87-year-old pope said in an address to some 300 politicians and religious leaders at Jakarta's Merdeka Presidential Palace.

Taipei [Taiwan], September 2 (ANI): Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) has said that 18 Chinese military aircraft, eight naval vessels and two official ships were detected operating around Taiwan from 6 am (local time) on Sunday to 6 am (local time) on Monday. Among them, 15 of the People's Liberation Army's (PLA) aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan's northern, southwestern, and eastern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). In response to Chinese incursions, Taiwan mobilised its aircraft and naval vessels while deploying coastal-based missile systems to closely monitor the situation and deter any potential threats.

Manipur government reported was carried out by Kuki militants against Koutruk villagers. «The State Government has learnt about the unfortunate incident of the attack on unarmed Koutruk villagers using drones, bombs and many sophisticated weapons on Sunday reportedly by Kuki militants causing the death of two persons including one woman and injuries to many,» said the Manipur government in a statement. «Such act of terrorising upon the unarmed villagers is viewed very seriously by the State Government when the State Government is putting all possible efforts towards bringing normalcy and peace to the State. Such an act of creating havoc among the unarmed villagers reportedly by Kuki militants is seen as an attempt to derail the efforts taken by the State Government to establish peace in the State,» stated the Manipur government condemning the attack.
