MUMBAI : Top officials of the government and the central bank will meet on Monday to figure out a way forward on the vexed issue of bank exposure to alternative investment funds (AIFs), two people aware of the matter said. Officials from the department of economic affairs, department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), MSME ministry, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and banks will attend the meeting, the people said on the condition of anonymity. The government stepped in because apart from AIFs from private firms, several AIFs have been floated by central government ministries and state governments to pool funds from state-owned banks.

Aditya Birla Group plans to consolidate its non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) to create better synergies and ensure optimal utilisation of resources and greater economies of scale, following approval by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), said people aware of the matter. NEW DELHI : The Centre released ₹1.42 trillion in tax devolution to states on Thursday, supplementing the ₹72,961 crore disbursed earlier on 12 February. According to the finance ministry, the funds will allow the states to finance various social welfare measures and infrastructure development schemes. "With this release, states have received total of three instalments of tax devolution in February 2024," it added.

In its consultation paper, the regulator suggested exempting category I university funds and university-related endowments FPI that meet specific criteria from enhanced disclosure requirements. Additionally, it proposed exempting funds with concentrated holdings in entities without a promoter group, where there is no risk of breaching Minimum Public Shareholding (MPS) requirements, from enhanced reporting obligations.

India is planning to host a conference of the supreme audit institutions (SAIs) of Asia in September where a preliminary draft framework for such auditing standards could be deliberated on, Murmu said on the side lines of an event.
