Lithium-ion battery pack maker and recycling firm Lohum on Wednesday said it has secured USD 54 million (Rs 450 crore) in a funding round from a bunch of investors. The investors who participated in the series B funding round of capital infusion include Singularity Ventures, Baring Private Equity, Cactus Venture Partners & Venture East amongst other new and existing venture firms, Lohum said in a statement. The company will use these funds to fuel its market expansion, scaling up recycling operations across India, and also expanding to new energy transition materials markets in North America, the EU, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, it said. «The funds will expedite our international expansion, enable us to hire top professionals from talent pools in India, expand our strength, and provide fresh tailwinds to our industry-leading R&D innovation centre,» said Rajat Verma, Founder & CEO of Lohum.

Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal for the expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) with the addition of three lakh cadet vacancies. This decision comes in response to the growing demand for NCC enrolment from educational institutions across India. Since its inception in 1948 with just 20,000 cadets, the NCC will now have a sanctioned strength of 20 lakh cadets, solidifying its position as the world's largest uniformed youth organization. The inclusion of NCC as an elective subject under the National Education Policy 2020 aligns with the government's efforts to empower youth to become future leaders of the nation. The expansion plan aims to evenly distribute vacancies across all States and Union Territories, reducing the waiting list of institutions seeking NCC affiliation. Ranglal Singhal, the 54-year-old man who was arrested from Jaipur for the alleged murder of his 29-year-old son in south Delhi's Devli, has revealed the reason behind the killing. During police interrogation, Singhal confessed stating that he wanted to avenge his son's misbehavior and physical abuse towards him. He also aimed to teach a lesson to his wife, who supported their son, by killing him a day before his wedding. According to the investigators, the trigger for the murder was a brawl that occurred on Wednesday. However, Singhal had been contemplating killing his son for the past few months. He hired three contract killers, aged between 22 and 25, from the same locality and paid them Rs 75,000 for the job. The deal was fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh.
