What happens next: Joe Biden wants to pass the baton to Kamala Harris. Here's how that might work
Joe Biden ending his reelection bid and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Democrats now must navigate a shift that is unprecedented this late in an election year. Democrats are set to hold their convention in Chicago on Aug. 19-22. What was supposed to be a coronation for Biden now becomes an open contest in which nearly 4,700 delegates will be responsible for picking a new standard-bearer to challenge Republican Donald Trump in the fall. The path ahead is neither easy nor obvious, even with Biden endorsing Harris. There are unanswered questions about logistics, money and political fallout.

The final days: How Joe Biden and his inner circle blew it
Joe Biden's decision to end his reelection campaign on Sunday followed a series of strategic missteps by his campaign team and White House aides that amplified concerns that the 81-year-old president wouldn't be able to win in November's election, or run the country for another four years. Biden's halting performance at the June 27 presidential debate against Republican candidate Donald Trump, pushed even some of his closest allies to question whether he could endure a full campaign, and added gasoline to a smoldering Democratic party movement questioning the wisdom of his second term. Within days, Biden went from the party's figurehead to a liability. He became the first sitting president to stand down from a possible reelection since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968.

Joe Biden withdraws from US presidential race, but stays mum on his replacement
Joe Biden on Sunday announced that he has decided to 'step down' as Democratic Party's Presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections, following his fellow party members losing faith in his mental stability and lack of confidence to beat Donald Trump. «It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,» Biden said in a letter to his countrymen. However, the President has not made it clear yet on who will replace him as Democrats' Presidential face.

Conversation with India on Pannun assassination plot has been respectful and effective, says US NSA
India regarding the allegations of a plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist in the US that involved an Indian government official has been «respectful» and «effective» because it's being held behind closed doors, according to Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor to the US president. In November last year, US federal prosecutors charged Indian national Nikhil Gupta with working with an Indian government employee in the foiled plot to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York. Gupta, who was arrested in the Czech Republic in June last year, was extradited to the US on June 14. «We have had a constructive dialogue with India on this issue. And we have made it very clear where we stand on it and what we would like to see. And it's been respectful, and it has been effective, in my view, mostly because it is taking place behind closed doors,» Sullivan said at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado on Friday responding to a question on allegations related to the assassination attempt on Pannun. India has denied the allegations but has constituted an internal investigations team to look into it.

Boeing 'fighting through challenges' in building new Air Force One planes
Boeing's defense unit said Sunday the planemaker is still «fighting through challenges» in building two delayed U.S. presidential aircraft known as Air Force One. In 2018, Boeing received a $3.9 billion contract to build two 747-8 aircraft for use as Air Force One, to be delivered by December 2024, but they are now delayed until at least 2027 and 2028. Inside the Trump campaign’s hidden ground game
GERMANTOWN, Wis.—The Trump campaign’s effective takeover of the Republican National Committee has come with a new approach to on-the-ground canvassing efforts: doing more with less. The party says its get-out-the-vote effort, dubbed “Trump Force 47," is driven by a dedicated army of volunteers. It has been shrouded in secrecy since it launched earlier this year, raising questions in political circles about the ground-game strategy to support Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The economic impact of India's crypto legislation on the global market
Cryptocurrencies remain largely unregulated across the world. The G-20 Summit in 2023, where India presided as the President, emphasised establishing a collaborative and global network of regulations in cryptocurrencies which gathered steam from the attendees. This has been driven by India’s Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021, which is yet to be tabled but is becoming an era-appropriate necessity. Presently, cryptocurrencies are taxed at 30% on the earnings, while a further 1% is deducted from earnings. Meanwhile, the focus of the Crypto Bill is to establish a regulated structure in the domain that assists in the creation of official digital currencies.

Award-winning Urdu poet dropped from UP mushaira list over 'anti-Modi, anti-Yogi remarks'
BJP's local unit in Meerut, the district administration requested the removal of award-winning Urdu poetess Shabeena Adeeb from the list of invitees to the renowned 'All India Mushaira,' citing «law and order issues.» The decision was made on the eve of the event. Members of the ruling party in Meerut had accused Adeeb of making «anti-Modi and anti-Yogi remarks» in the past, and her support for anti-CAA protesters in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh locality reportedly aggravated their concerns. BJP district president Suresh Jain Rituraj told TOI, «A controversial video of Adeeb has emerged, leading us to suspect that her presence could pose a threat to the law and order situation in Meerut. We communicated our concerns to the administration, and they acted to prevent her attendance.» Chief Development Officer (CDO) Nupur Goel stated, «If the presence of an individual creates a law and order problem, we must address it.»
