Eli Lilly on Thursday introduced its globally popular anti-diabetes and obesity drug Mounjaro (tirzepatide) in India, kicking off a raft of planned launches in this therapeutic area over the next few months. At the starting dose of 2.5 mg, the drug will cost Rs 14,000 a month, a company official said. The 2.5 mg vial and 5 mg vial will be available at Rs 3,500 and Rs 4,375, respectively. A spokesperson said as Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-based product, the treatment plan is determined by a healthcare professional and varies for each individual. Eli Lilly will sell only Mounjaro for both obesity and diabetes in India unlike Zepbound, which is the prescribed obesity drug in the US. The key ingredient tirzepatide is the same for both brands. «The dual burden of obesity and type 2 diabetes is rapidly emerging as a major public health challenge in India,» Winselow Tucker, president and general manager, Lilly India, said in a statement. «Lilly is committed to collaborating with the government and industry to promote awareness and improve the prevention and management of these diseases.»

Washington-based U.S. District Judge James Boasberg has given the administration until noon (1600 GMT) to either provide specifics on when the deportation flights took off and landed so he can determine whether they violated his order, or to invoke a legal doctrine involving state secrets to avoid sharing those details and explain their reasons for doing so. Boasberg gave the Justice Department the option of giving him the flight details under seal, meaning they would not be made public. Earlier this month, U.S. representatives prevented the World Bank-linked Climate Investment Funds (CIF) from approving a $500 million disbursement to South Africa, the report added. The funding was expected to unlock an additional $2.1 billion from multilateral development banks and other financial sources and a fresh attempt to approve the disbursement may be made at CIF meetings in June, the report said. World Happiness Report 2025 is out. And, surprise, surprise—Mexico and Canada, the two countries frequently targeted by US President Donald Trump, have been ranked much higher than the United States in terms of happiness. According to the UN-backed report, the United States is ranked 24th, while Canada stands at 18th. Surprisingly, Mexico has an even better ranking at 10th place. Notably, this marks the worst ranking for the US since the report's inception in 2012, when it achieved its peak ranking of 11th place. One of the biggest reasons for the decline in American happiness, according to the report, is eating meals alone. «The number of people dining alone in the United States has increased by 53 percent over the past two decades,» the authors stated, highlighting that shared meals are strongly linked to well-being. Data from 2023 showed that approximately 25% of Americans consumed all their daily meals alone.
