Can Donald Trump be stopped? That and more key questions heading into the New Hampshire primary
Donald Trump's effort to march to the Republican presidential nomination faces perhaps its greatest challenge on Tuesday when voters in New Hampshire hold the first-in-the-nation primary. The former president enters the contest emboldened by his record-setting performance in last week's Iowa caucuses. But New Hampshire has a more moderate political tradition and primary rules that allow unaffiliated voters to participate in the race. Trump-backed MAGA candidates have struggled here in recent years. Nikki Haley is hoping to capitalise on those vulnerabilities. The former UN ambassador is the only candidate left in the GOP primary aiming to defeat Trump outright. After a disappointing finish in Iowa, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is effectively surrendering new Hampshire and focusing on South Carolina's Feb. 24 primary.

Tamil Nadu has banned telecast of Ayodhya event: FM Sitharaman as BJP plans to defy DMK regime with mass pooja
Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday accused the DMK regime in Tamil Nadu of banning watching live telecast of Ram Mandir events in Ayodhya as the non-BJP states in South have not responded to demands for a public holiday on January 22. The DMK government was unofficially claiming law & order issues to justify ban on live telecast, Sitharaman alleged in a series of posts on social media platform X. The FM called it a 'false and fake narrative’ as there were no such issues on the day of the Ayodhya verdict.

View: Why Nikki Haley could be the most dangerous president?
Ron DeSantis proved to be a capable campaigner and looked poised to defeat Donald Trump in New Hampshire and beyond, we would be facing a multitude of left-leaning essays on a single theme: «Why DeSantis is actually more dangerous than Trump.» In this world, the only threat to Trump in New Hampshire is Nikki Haley, and her candidacy doesn't look built to last much beyond that primary. But in the spirit of slipping in your controversial opinions while you can, and because she might yet be Trump's running mate, here is my own fear: A Haley presidency could be more dangerous than a second Trump term.

Maldives refreshes China ties but that’s not all why India must tread carefully
As the world devolves from the unipolar world led by the US in the immediate aftermath of the end of the Cold War to an international order more in flux–not yet multipolar and not quite bipolar either–small states are gaining outsize ability to shape their own destinies. Long used to being ignored, many small countries are increasingly capable of playing rival states against each other and expanding their diplomatic space. Maldives is a classic case in point.
