Citi Lowe's economy Remark CME President Bonds rally on safety-bid and dovish Fed
Middle East. Cash Treasury markets had been closed for a holiday on Monday, so Tuesday morning was traders' first chance to react to Palestinian militants' surprise attack on Israel as well as Fed officials' overnight comments. After dropping 15 basis points at the open, 10-year yields were 12.5 bps lower at 4.66% at 1235 GMT. Two-year yields also dived more than 13 bps to a one-month low of 4.926% as short-term rate expectations were dialled back. Yields fall when bond prices rally. Fed Vice Chair Philip Jefferson and Dallas Fed president Lorie Logan both noted on Monday that the recent run-up in yields may reduce the need for further interest rate hikes. «If term premiums rise, they could do some of the work of cooling the economy for us, leaving less need for additional monetary policy tightening,» Logan said. Analysts at Citi noted Logan has been one of the strongest advocates that the Fed would need to follow through with further tightening, but interpreted her remarks as suggesting that higher long-term rates curtail the need for short-end hikes. Implied futures pricing has reduced the probability of another rate hike this year from above 40% last week to about 26% on Tuesday, according to CME's FedWatch tool. The Mideast conflict, already claiming more than 1,500 lives, drove bond yields lower globally on Monday as investors turned to safe-haven assets.

UPS Provident Cooper President stage Department Joe Biden interviewed by special counsel in classified documents case
Joe Biden was interviewed as part of an investigation into his handling of classified documents by Special Counsel Robert Hur, the White House counsel's office said on Monday. The Democratic president's interview was voluntary and conducted over two days, concluding on Monday, said Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House counsel's office. US Attorney General Merrick Garland in January named Hur as special counsel to look into the improper storage of classified documents at Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, home and at a Washington think tank office set up for Biden after his 2009-2017 vice presidency. Such special counsels are appointed to handle sensitive cases — usually involving political figures or allegations of serious wrongdoing by the government — and have more independence than is usually afforded to federal investigators to decide whether to bring charges. Hur's interviews with Biden suggest the investigation, which has proceeded quietly, may have advanced to its final stages.

UPS Fighting Mobile Death President reports Hamas threatens to kill captives if Israel strikes civilians
Hamas movement threatened to execute an Israeli captive every time Israel bombs a Palestinian home without warning, as Israel called up an unprecedented 300,000 reservists and imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip, raising fears it planned a ground assault. The violence, which has claimed more than 1,500 lives, prompted international declarations of support for Israel after a devastating weekend attack by Hamas, and appeals for an end to the fighting and protection of civilians. Israeli TV channels said the death toll from the Hamas attack had climbed to 900 Israelis, with at least 2,600 injured, and dozens taken captive. Among the Israeli dead were 260 mostly young people gunned down at a desert music festival, where some of the hostages were abducted. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed revenge in a fiery speech accusing Hamas of executing tied-up children and other atrocities.
