Nvidia cuts China prices in Huawei chip fight
Nvidia's most advanced AI chip it developed for the China market has got off to a weak start, with abundant supply forcing it to be priced below a rival chip from Chinese tech giant Huawei, according to sources familiar with the matter. The flattening prices underscore the challenges Nvidia's China business faces amid U.S. sanctions on AI chip exports and heightened competition, casting a cloud over its future in a market that contributed 17% to its revenue for fiscal 2024.

Merely being not named in predicate offence doesn't mean one can't be prosecuted under PMLA: Supreme Court
predicate offence does not mean that he cannot be prosecuted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the Supreme Court said on Friday while hearing a plea in a money-laundering case arising out of the alleged coal-block allocation scam. The observation came from a vacation bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal, which was hearing a petition filed by one Sudhir Gupta seeking quashing of an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against him and the subsequent proceedings arising out of it. The bench told advocate Vijay Aggarwal, who appeared in the court on behalf of Gupta, that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) ECIR could neither be quashed nor stayed. Aggarwal told the bench that the petitioner was arrayed as a witness in a related case lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), but the ED has made him an accused in the money-laundering case.

‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ review: The rocky road to revenge
Furiosa would have been… had Fury Road not existed. George Miller’s 2015 film remade the action genre from the inside out, taking it back to its basics, then supercharging it. Furiosa has its share of bone-rattling, cardiac-inducing wonders, but these wonders are largely familiar, burned into our brains through re-watchings of Fury Road.

In the previous trading session, crude oil prices dropped over 0.65% following the release of the Federal Reserve meeting minutes, which indicated a lack of confidence among policymakers regarding imminent interest rate cuts. The minutes showed that while policymakers viewed current policy as "well positioned," some expressed readiness to tighten policy in the event of inflation spikes.

The tribunal broadly relied on Article 194, which enumerates state parties' obligations to prevent, reduce and control pollution of the marine environment.

Mehul Choksi says 'reasons beyond his control' have prevented his return to India
Mehul Choksi, a key accused in the multi-crore PNB scam, has told a special court here that he hasn't been able to return to India «due to reasons beyond his control» and hence cannot be declared a "fugitive economic offender". The accused has claimed that he didn't leave India to avoid criminal prosecution nor is he refusing to return to the country. He said his passport has been suspended by Indian authorities. The businessman made these claims in an application filed on Wednesday before a special PMLA court, seeking directions for summoning documents concerning the suspension of his passport and investigation files of the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) case against him. The current proceedings against Choksi pertain to ED's plea to declare him a fugitive economic offender (FEO) and these documents need to be summoned «for fair adjudication of the matter», said the plea filed through advocate Vijay Agarwal.

Russian missiles kill 6 in Ukraine's second-largest city where Moscow's troops are pressing
missiles slammed into Ukraine's second-largest city in the northeast of the country and killed at least six civilians early Thursday, officials said, as Kyiv's army labored to hold off an intense cross-border offensive by the Kremlin's larger and better-equipped forces. At least 16 people were injured as S-300 missiles struck the city of Kharkiv, regional Gov Oleh Syniehubov said. The sound of 15 explosions reverberated around the city of some 1 million people. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack «extremely cruel.» He expressed renewed frustration at not getting enough air defense systems from the country's Western partners to prevent the barrages after more than two years of unrelenting war. The city of Kharkiv, which is the capital of the region of the same name, lies about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the Russian border. Moscow's troops have in recent weeks captured villages in the area as part of a broad push, and analysts say they may be trying to get within artillery range of the city.
