ED arrests four more persons in money laundering case against Hemant Soren
Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made four fresh arrests in connection with the alleged illegal land grab-linked money laundering case against former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and others, official sources said on Wednesday. Those taken into custody under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) have been identified as Antu Tirkey, Priya Ranjan Sahay, Bipin Singh and Irshad, they said. The ED had on Tuesday conducted searches at the premises of Tirkey and some others here and the four were arrested following their questioning. Tirkey is allegedly linked to Soren while Singh is a real estate businessman. Sahay «forged» some land-related documents along with others, according to the charge sheet filed in the case.

New EPF rule on auto withdrawal claims under 68J; check details
Employees' Provident Funds Organisation (EPFO) has increased the qualifying limit of Paragraph 68J claims for auto claims processing. The limit has been inreased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, which was also implemented in the application software on April 10, 2024, EPFO said in a circular issued on April 16, 2024.

Turkiye announced on Tuesday that Turkish authorities have initiated a requirement for Indian and Nepalese passport holders traveling to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela, transiting via Istanbul Airport, to obtain an 'Electronic Airport Transit Visa' (e-ATV). As per the embassy's statement shared on X by the Turkish Embassy in India, Indian and Nepalese passport holders subject to this requirement can obtain the e-ATV through the website «evisa.gov.tr» starting from April 15. Importantly, this service is provided free of charge, adhering to the current practice.

RBI mandates regulatory approval for PoS providers to continue operations
MUMBAI : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed that non-banks offering physical point of sale services (PoS) must notify the regulator of their intent to seek authorization within 60 days, and then submit their application by 31 May 2025, for approval to continue operations. “…they shall be allowed to continue their operations till they receive communication from the RBI regarding (the) fate of their application," the regulator said in a draft circular late on Tuesday.
