SP Group plans to repay Goswami Infra debt by listing Afcons
Goswami Infratech, a Shapoorji Pallonji Group company, has proposed to repay ₹7,000 crore or half the debt raised through non-convertible debentures (NCDs) last year, even as it stares at a sharp jump in coupon payments by the end of this month if it doesn't complete the sale of its Gopalpur port. As part of its debt repayment strategy, Goswami Infratech has floated a plan to repay debenture holders with ₹7,000 crore, leveraging the monetisation of Afcons Infrastructure, according to a consent note sent to existing holders of 18.75% bond maturing in June 2026.

GMR Highways raises Rs 700 cr debt to prepay Yes Bank
GMR Highways has raised ₹700 crore debt from foreign portfolio investors Zeal Global Opportunities Fund and Nova Global Opportunities Fund to prepay loans raised from Yes Bank, said two people with knowledge of the matter. Both invested ₹350 crore each in secured, unlisted and unrated bonds of GMR Highways maturing on February 20, 2028. The bonds have been issued at 14% per annum for 48 months. The company has pledged 100% of its equity shares, and the parent company, GMR Power & Urban Infra, has provided a corporate guarantee.

Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha on Sunday launched a new startup policy with a focus to establish 2,000 startups in the Union Territory by 2027. The 'New Jammu & Kashmir Start-up Policy- 2024-27' will also provide patent-related assistance, financial assistance for mentorship to recognised startups, facilitation for department for the promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) registration and additional need-based support to startups working in diverse fields, Sinha said. «I invite the potential investors from across the country to explore the unlimited possibilities present in the Union Territory and contribute to the growth journey of Jammu Kashmir,» the lieutenant governor said at the launch of the policy at the Avinya Startup Summit here.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Mandi and Palakkad have developed a marine robot that can cater to real-time problems and reduce maintenance cost and death risk for underwater operation scenarios. The research which was partially funded by the Naval Research Board (NRB) of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has been published in two journals-- Journal of Intelligent and Robotic Systems, and Ocean Engineering. The state-of-the-art robot has been developed for meticulous underwater monitoring and inspections, promising heightened efficiency, minimised risks, and potential cost savings, the researchers said.

schedule for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG is likely to be changed depending on the Lok Sabha elections schedule, according to UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar. The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday announced that the exam would be conducted from May 15 to 31 and the results declared on June 30. India is gearing up for general elections to elect its 18th Lok Sabha, the schedule for which is likely to be announced this month. «The dates announced by the NTA are tentative. Once the election dates are announced, the NTA will finalise the CUET-UG dates. The tentative schedule is from May 15,» University Grants Commission (UGC) chief Kumar told PTI on Sunday.

Titled «Let's Talk Consent», the free 90-minute self-learning course is being offered on the online learning platform «Coursera». It has been developed as a first-of-its-kind resource to provide young adults in India guidance on interpersonal consent. «Our conversations with Tinder users and the survey with young adult daters in India gave us an insight into the overwhelming need to create safe spaces for conversations on boundaries and mutual respect, which are not often discussed in our society,» Aahana Dhar, director of communications for Tinder in India told PTI.
