(Reuters) — U.S. stock index futures ticked higher on Monday after a rally in the previous week driven by bets U.S. interest rates had peaked, while Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) outpaced megacap peers on news that former OpenAI head Sam Altman will join the software giant.

Investing.com -- U.S. stock futures edged higher ahead of the first day of a Thanksgiving-shortened trading week, as investors geared up for minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest meeting and earnings from AI-darling Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) on Tuesday. Sam Altman is set to join Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) after a dramatic weekend saw his ouster from the helm of ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. Elsewhere, Cruise boss Kyle Vogt resigns following a series of recent missteps at the robotaxi group.

Satya Nadella's message reaffirming the company's partnership with ChatGPT maker OpenAI. Nadella had announced that Microsoft was "committed" to its partnership with OpenAI, while sharing the news that former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman would be joining Microsoft to lead a new AI research team.

Last month, the Bengaluru-based company launched ‘Resume with Razorpay’, under which it provides a six-month internship to female professionals to facilitate their return to work. Health Ministry has released the draft National Pharmacy Commission Bill, 2023, which seeks to repeal the Pharmacy Act of 1948 and replace the Pharmacy Council of India with a national commission. The ministry put up the draft bill on its website on November 14 seeking comments from the public. The proposed bill aims to provide for a pharmacy education system that improves access to quality and affordable pharmacy or pharmaceutical education, ensures availability of adequate and high-quality pharmacy professionals in all parts of the country, promotes equitable and universal healthcare, and makes services of pharmacy professionals accessible to all citizens. The draft bill calls for a periodic and transparent assessment of pharmacy institutions, facilitating maintenance of a pharmacy register for India, and enforcing high ethical standards in all aspects of pharmacy services. It also encourages pharmacy professionals to adopt latest pharmacy research in their work and to contribute to research. The draft bill proposes flexibility to adapt to changing needs and seeks to set up an effective grievance redressal mechanism. According to the draft, the Pharmacy Ethics and Registration Board will maintain a National Pharmacy Register which will have details of pharmacy professionals to ensure transparency.

rules of origin for the medical devices sector remains a sticking-point in the proposed free-trade agreement (FTA) between India and the UK and the talks are on to iron out the differences, an official said. Huge potential is there in the medical devices sector in India, as it imports about 80 per cent of its requirement, with the US, Germany, China, Singapore and Netherlands being top exporters of such devices to the country. «In the medical devices sector, a lot of issues related to rules of origin are still there. Demand for customs duty concessions is also there,» the official said, adding negotiations are going on between the two countries to resolve the differences in both goods and services sectors. The government has taken steps to promote domestic manufacturing of medical devices/equipment and attract large investment in the sector.
