Demand for loan collection agents, or temporary manpower often deployed to chase sticky advances, has climbed more than 30% in the past six months, TeamLease data shared with ET showed, pointing to the mounting pile of doubtful unsecured retail advances at lenders that now need specialised recovery support. TeamLease, which manages more than 85,000 frontline employees in areas such as sales, customer care, and field operations, has recruited up to 7,000 new collection agents for banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), credit card firms, microfinance institutions, and fintech companies. «This is a direct result of the challenges we've seen in the unsecured loan segment, and as a result, the demand for collection agents has increased by over 30%,» said Krishnendu Chatterjee, VP and business head, TeamLease Services. «In many cases, lenders have shifted sales roles into collection roles.» The central bank increased risk weights on unsecured loans to reduce systemic risks, and to prevent a further increase in potential stress in bank balance sheets since retail segment was at vanguard of credit demand lately.

Last month, the minister stated that India and the US are committed to increasing bilateral trade to USD 500 billion and negotiating a «strong» trade agreement within the next 6-8 months.

Coal India arm NCL will soon commence its Rs 24,000-crore rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) project to relocate from Morwa township in Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli, a top company official said on Sunday. The relocation, under the 'Singrauli Punarasthapan' project, will involve shifting around 50,000 people and 22,500 houses from the township spread across 927 hectares. Singrauli sits atop around 600 million tonnes of mineable coal. «This is a huge project estimated at Rs 24,000 crore. We are in the advanced stages of negotiations with all four residents' associations regarding benefits and relaxations in documentation requirements. The good thing is that people have agreed to relocate,» Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) Chairman and Managing Director B Sairam told PTI. The township's relocation was necessitated as NCL's Jayant coal mine is expanding and expected to come within 500 metres of the residential area in the next two years, which would hinder mining operations, he said.

As a broader strategy, ACME Solar aims to treble its current renewable capacity to reach 7 GW by 2028, according to the statement. «We intend to focus our new capacities on the revenue and margin accretive hybrid and FDRE (Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy) projects as a critical pivot in our business strategy,» CEO Nikhil Dhingra said.
