My first trip to Norway, with AI as a guide
trip to Norway, a place I'd never been. So I did none of my usual obsessive online research and instead asked three AI planners to create a four-day itinerary. None of them, alas, mentioned the saunas or the salmon. Two assistants were, however, eager to learn more about me in order to tailor their initially generic recommendations, which they had spewed out within seconds. Vacay, a personalized travel planning tool, presented me with a list of questions, while Mindtrip, a new AI travel assistant, invited me to take a quiz. (ChatGPT, the third assistant, asked nothing.)

Sebi strikes finfluencers: Can Sebi diktat protect investors from dubious investment advices on YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp?
finfluencers by prohibiting any association, monetary or non-monetary, between Sebi-registered intermediaries/regulated entities and unregistered entities (including finfluencers). Now, these rules have come into force. Here’s what the new rule states: ‘The persons regulated by the Board and agents of such persons shall not have any association, like any transaction involving money or money’s worth, referral of a client, interaction of information technology systems or any other association of similar nature or character, directly or indirectly, with any other person who, directly or indirectly, provides advice or recommendation or makes any implicit or explicit claim of return or performance, in respect of or related to security or securities, unless permitted by the Board to provide such advice/recommendation/claim.’ What does this mean in practice? It implies that anyone who gives investment advice or recommendations, even implicitly, cannot receive any money or have any association with stock brokers or trading platforms and other market participants or any Sebi-regulated entity. It precludes even incidental association with such people or entities.

Army shouldn't be involved in politics: Former IAF chief RKS Bhadauria slams Rahul Gandhi
Indian Air Force chief RKS Bhadauria on Thursday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for raising questions on the Agniveer scheme and demanded that he apologise for accusing Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of lying about giving compensation to the next of kin of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who lost his life in the line of duty. This came a day after the Indian Army rejected claims in social media posts that compensation hasn't been paid to the next of kin of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who lost his life in the line of duty, and said his family has already been given Rs 98.39 lakh out of the due amount. The total amount will be Rs 1.65 crore approximately, it said in the «clarification» on Wednesday that came after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi shared on X a video purportedly of Ajay's father, who stated that they had not received any money.

Court allows Arvind Kejriwal's wife access to his medical records, permits her to seek doctors' advice
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita access to his medical records and also permitted her to independently consult and seek advice from the medical board or doctors on his behalf. The court, however, rejected Kejriwal's application seeking directions to prison authorities allowing Sunita Kejriwal to be his attendant during consultations with doctors. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja said Kejriwal had not been admitted to a hospital and according to Delhi Prison Rules, permission was granted to a family member as an attendant with an undertrial prisoner by the jail superintendent in consultation with the medical officer in-charge, only when the prisoner is admitted in hospital. «This court sees no reason to carve out an exception for the applicant (Kejriwal) by going against the prison rules, more particularly in view of the submission of the jail authorities that several other inmates are also undergoing treatment for the same ailment as the applicant and who have not been permitted to have an attendant,» the court said.

How pigeon exposure can cause irreparable lung disease. Here’s what you must know
health risks. Recent cases have highlighted how prolonged exposure to pigeon feathers and droppings can lead to severe allergic reactions and respiratory issues among residents. Here's detailed information on these risks and what you need to know. Case Study: Allergic reactions in East Delhi A new case study sheds light on the health hazards posed by pigeon droppings and feathers, revealing a troubling incident involving an 11-year-old boy from East Delhi. As per a TOI report, the boy developed severe allergic reactions after prolonged contact with pigeon feathers and droppings, leading to potentially fatal consequences. He was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (HP), a rare but serious lung condition triggered by allergic reactions to pigeon proteins. Understanding Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (HP) Dr. Dhiren Gupta, Co-Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) explained to TOI that HP is a chronic interstitial lung disease characterized by lung inflammation and scarring, making breathing difficult. While more common among adults, HP is rare in children, affecting only 2-4 per one lakh population annually. The boy received immediate medical attention, including steroids and high-flow oxygen therapy to reduce lung inflammation and restore normal breathing.

MHA adopted 72% of 111 suggestions on criminal laws by House panel: Officials
criminal laws, Home ministry officials said that MHA has incorporated 72% of 111 suggestions made by the Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) which examined the draft laws in August 2023. «The PSC forwarded its recommendations to the MHA on November 10, 2023. MHA has incorporated most of the suggestions given by PSC and out of 111 observations, MHA has incorporated around 72% of them,» the officials said. The remaining suggestions were either in terms of observations of the Committee or the existing provisions in the Bills were already meeting the suggestions of PSC. The old set of Bills were subsequently recalled and, after incorporating suggestions and feedback, the current three Bills were tabled, they added. MHA has initiated steps towards preparing the existing organs of the Criminal Justice System to successfully adapt themselves to these new laws. As per officials, «these measures would require training at all levels in the police, vast improvement of forensic capabilities at all levels, evolving best practices for adopting technological solutions at police station and court levels, preparing various guidelines on initiatives like Witness Protection Scheme, etc. Further, commensurate capacity building steps have to be undertaken by all states and UTs».

Wrinkle creams for preteens sound safety alarm
This spring, amid preparation for cookie sales and planning a white-water rafting trip, the Girl Scouts of Larchmont-Mamaroneck welcomed a special guest speaker: a dermatologist. Preteens and teens across the country have ditched their crafts, videogames and toys, embracing antiaging and other beauty products, and parents are concerned. Some of the most popular products contain active ingredients such as retinol and glycolic acid, which can thin the top layer of the skin and cause peeling and irritation.
