He made the remarks while addressing a gathering of Army officers, junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and soldiers drawn from 18 Grenadiers to mark 25 years of the battles of Tololing and Tiger Hill fought during the Kargil war in 1999. Tiger Hill top was captured by the Indian Army on July 4, 1999. The 18 Grenadiers battalion played a pivotal role in the Kargil conflict. The legacy that has been bequeathed to you has been earned by our ancestors. We may not have made a direct contribution but we are reaping its fruits,» Gen Chauhan told the gathering.

Replying to a question on the opposition targeting the BJP-led Centre over the NEET exam issue, Pradhan said, «The Congress does not want a discussion. It wants to run away from the discussion. Indira Gandhi put many of us behind bars, but she never abused us: RJD chief Lalu Yadav on Emergency
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday recalled what they went through during the dark days of Emergency and said that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi put many of the leaders behind bars, but she never abused them. In a post shared on X, the RJD chief shared an article «The Sangh Silence in 1975» written by him and journalist Nalin Verma. In the article, they attacked the BJP-led central government and said that although 1975 is a stain on the country's democracy, let's not forget who doesn't respect the Opposition in 2024. «I was the convener of the steering committee that Jayaprakash Narayan--had constituted to carry forward the movement against the excesses of Emergency imposed by the then PM Indira Gandhi. I was in jail under the Maintenance of Security Act (MISA) for over 15 months. My colleagues and I did not know many of the BJP ministers speaking about the Emergency today. We hadn't heard of Modi, J P Nadda, and some of the PM's other ministerial colleagues who today lecture us on the value of freedom,» he posted on X.

First time in history, says anguished Dhankhar on Kharge entering Rajya Sabha Well
Dhankhar on Friday expressed anguish over Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge trooping into the Well of the House during an opposition protest, saying it is for the first time that a person occupying the post has engaged in such conduct. On Friday, the House witnessed three adjournments due to protests and sloganeering by the opposition. Soon after laying of the listed papers on the table of the House during the morning session, Dhankhar informed that he has not accepted 22 notices by the opposition leaders to suspend the scheduled business of the day and take up discussion on the alleged irregularities in the NEET. This led to protest by the MPs of the opposition parties. They started raising slogans and several of them entered into the Well, leading to adjournment of the proceedings.

Delhi Airport accident: Congress cites 17 incidents from Ram Mandir to Morbi bridge to attack Modi, BJP hits back
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the faulty structure, though Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu clarified that the collapsed portion was part of an older structure built in 2009. Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that corruption and criminal negligence were responsible for the canopy collapse and criticized the Prime Minister for failing to create «world-class infrastructure.» He pointed out several past incidents to support his argument. «Corruption and criminal negligence are responsible for the collapse of shoddy infrastructure falling like a deck of cards, in the past 10 years of Modi Govt,» Kharge wrote on X. «Delhi Airport (T1) roof collapse, Jabalpur Airport roof collapse, abysmal condition of Ayodhya's new roads, Ram Mandir leakage, cracks in Mumbai Trans Harbour Link road, 13 new bridges falling in Bihar in 2023 & 2024, Pragati Maidan Tunnel submerging, Morbi bridge collapse tragedy in Gujarat,… are some stark instances which expose the tall claims by Modi ji and BJP of creating 'World Class Infrastructure'! On March 10th, when Modi ji inaugurated the Delhi Airport T1, he called himself 'Doosri mitti ka insaan… All this false bravado and rhetoric was only reserved for quickly indulging in ribbon-cutting ceremonies before elections!»
