Congress' "prem" for Pakistan "doesn't seem to stop": Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's Pak remarks stir BJP criticism
Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's recent remarks regarding Pakistan have ignited a fresh political controversy, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing the Congress of having a soft stance towards India's neighbor. In an interview with 'Chill Pill,' Aiyar suggested that India should «respect» Pakistan due to its possession of nuclear weapons. He emphasized the importance of engaging in dialogue with the neighboring country. «They are also a sovereign country (Pakistan). They are a respected nation. You can talk tough with them (Pakistan). But start the dialogue. You are walking with a gun which yielded you nothing. Tensions are escalating. And if a mad person comes there, what will happen to the nation? They have an atom bomb. We also possess the atomic bomb. But if a mad person detonates our bomb at Lahore station, so within eight seconds, eight moments, its radioactivity will reach Amritsar,» Aiyar said in the video going viral on social media.

Nitish Kumar explains his switches, but are voters in Bihar believing it?
Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Less than a year ago, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was seen as a formidable figure within the opposition, positioned as the strongest challenger to PM Narendra Modi. However, Kumar's current political landscape is marked by a flurry of strategic moves, as he works to reaffirm his loyalty to the saffron alliance, comprising the PM and the BJP. During a recent event alongside Modi in Aurangabad, Kumar aimed to dispel any doubts about his allegiance, stating, «While I may have momentarily strayed from the path, I want to assure you that I have returned to the NDA fold for good.» His remarks, met with subtle smirks from Modi and Bihar governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, highlight the intricate dynamics of political alliances in the state. As Bihar witnesses the fervour of election season, Kumar assumes a prominent role in numerous rallies, often sharing stages with BJP's key campaigners. However, amidst his speeches, Kumar's assurances of unwavering commitment to the NDA ring hollow to many. Aware of his history of political manoeuvring, the public responds with scepticism, mindful of past promises that were quickly forgotten.

"He meant to settle things...": AIMIM leader Akhtarul Iman defends Akbaruddin Owaisi's '15-Minute' remark
AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi's controversial «15-minute» remark made in 2013, AIMIM Bihar President Akhtarul Iman defended him, stating that Owaisi intended to resolve tensions between Hindus and Muslims if given 15 minutes. Iman emphasized that Owaisi did not imply violence but rather suggested that removing police presence could enable communities to settle disputes peacefully. Reacting to BJP leader Navneet Rana's response to Owaisi's comment, Imam said, «The people of BJP cannot understand anything. Akbaruddin Owaisi did not say that in „15 minutes“ he would murder someone or burn someone's house, he meant to say that, removing the Police and Hindu-Muslim brothers would settle everything together. Wherever there are clashes it is the police who ignite it»

Telangana Lok Sabha polls: BJP aims to capitalise on Modi-factor, BRS defections to counter Congress guarantees
BJP in Telangana is aggressively pushing to improve on its previous tally of four out of 17 seats in the May 13 Lok Sabha polls in the face of the ruling Congress party’s guarantees that are less than one year old. A larger tally would help the saffron party establish a firm foothold in another southern state, aside from Karnataka and aim for a win in the assembly in coming years. Sections of political analysts believe pro-BJP sentiment is one the rise in state, especially in urban areas, amidst heavy campaigning by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, party president J.P. Nadda, Union minister Smriti Irani, and other national leaders. A slew of defections from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) may also help the saffron party’s chances, they said. However, the BJP giving five of the 17 available NDA tickets to recent imports in the place of older core members may leave the party with internal fissures. In the assembly polls last year, the party had fielded 118 candidates, 54 of which were defectors. Only one of them managed to win. “We have been working for the party and have managed to build a base ever since the state was formed. But the leadership has chosen to field people from other parties over our own leaders, which is disappointing,” a party member said.

'Sonia Gandhi came from Italy': BJP leader reacts to Sam Pitroda's 'Chinese, African' comment
did not say anything about Sonia Gandhi, she came from Italy...This is the mindset of the Congress..." It is important to note that Congress leader Sam Pitroda, in an interview with 'The Statesman', while reflecting upon the democracy in India said, “We have survived 75 years in a very happy environment where people could live together, leaving aside few fights here and there. We could hold a country together as diverse as India, where people on east look like Chinese, people on West look like Arab, people on North look like white and maybe people on South look like Africans." Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the grand old party and asked the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the key ally of Congress, if it would snap ties with the party.

Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy makes big statment, says "4% Muslim reservation will remain"
BJP and the Opposition leaders about the reservation and minority quota, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said 4 per cent of Muslim reservations will remain and that is YSR Congress Party's final word on it. Addressing a public gathering in Kurnool, the CM said, «On one hand, Chandrababu Naidu continues to join hands with the BJP which stands on removing the 4 per cent Muslim reservation, on the other hand, to seek minority votes, he comes up with new drama. Have you witnessed a chameleon-like Chandrababu Naidu? Come what may, 4 per cent of Muslim reservations will remain and that is YSR Congress Party's final word on it. My only question to Chandrababu Naidu is why does he continue the alliance with the NDA even after the NDA government pledges to cancel the 4 per cent reservation?» Commenting on the ongoing Lok Sabha election battle, Reddy said, «In the next 4 days, the battle of Kurukshetra is set to take place. This election is not to elect MLAs and MPs, this election will decide the future of ongoing schemes and the development of every household. If you vote for Chandrababu Naidu, you are stopping all the welfare that this government has brought to the doorstep of the household.»
