Former Pakistan stars can't stop praising IPL: Here’s why
Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, when top Pakistani cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Salman Butt, and Kamran Akmal played in the tournament. The prospect of more such moments, where Indian and Pakistani cricketers played as teammates rather than opponents, came to an abrupt end after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The attacks, carried out by a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation, shook India to its core and brought the two nations to the brink of war.

Bengaluru woman says neighbour tried to stop her from playing Holi, told her, 'Go back to your state'. Netizens chide her for having 'no civic sense'
The woman, posting under the Reddit username «IllustratorFresh4423,» recounted that the event took place in Brookfield, Bengaluru. According to her, a resident in the vicinity became agitated, asserting that their festivities were disrupting his peace and leaving the sidewalk outside his home messy. She argued that since the pavement was public property, they had every right to play Holi there. In her detailed account, she described how the disagreement escalated. She stated that she and her friends were enthusiastically taking part in the celebrations when the neighbor suddenly confronted them, instructing them to refrain from playing on the road. When they refused to comply, he returned and, according to her, aggressively demanded that they vacate the area.

Third Eye: Secret plot or fiction? Clash amid loyalty shifts
Sanjay Raut recently alleged that Deputy CM Eknath Shinde held a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, during which Shinde reportedly expressed grievances against Devendra Fadnavis. Despite the meeting allegedly having only two attendees, Saamana, the newspaper edited by Raut, published the purported conversation verbatim. Raut aimed to suggest that Shinde was scheming against Fadnavis. However, Fadnavis later dismissed Raut's claims, accusing the latter of trying to rival scriptwriters Salim and Javed in crafting fiction.

Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL: Full schedule, squad, past wins, and more
In 2012, KKR won their first title because of Sunil Narine and Robin Uthappa. They won the title in 2014 again — the first season with Andre Russell in their ranks. The next three years showed promise but didn’t bring KKR another title, leading to Gautam Gambhir’s exit ahead of the 2018 auction. Dinesh Karthik took over as captain in 2018, guiding KKR to a third-place finish in his debut season. Midway through the 2020 IPL, he stepped down, passing the leadership to Eoin Morgan, who led the team to their third final in 2021. However, Morgan went unsold the following year, making way for Shreyas Iyer, who ultimately steered KKR to their third IPL title in 2024.

'This policy is here to stay': Bombay HC rejects plea challenging NHAI's implementation of FASTag
Bombay High Court has upheld the mandatory use of FASTag, the electronic toll collection system, and the imposition of double toll fees for vehicles without it. The court dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Pune resident Arjun Khanapure, challenging the National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) directive, which mandates that vehicles without FASTags pay twice the regular toll fees. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Bharati Dangre, in their ruling on Thursday, emphasized that the implementation of FASTag is a well-considered policy decision aimed at ensuring efficient and smooth road travel. «The system of FASTag, introduced in 2014, is here to stay,» the judges remarked, stating that there was no legal basis to intervene in the Centre's policy, which is being carried out by NHAI. Khanapure had filed the PIL after NHAI's circular in February 2021, which made it mandatory for all vehicles to use FASTag to pass through toll plazas. He had urged the court to keep at least one toll lane for hybrid payment options, such as cash.

US President says his wife Usha, 'has to smile always'. Netizens speculate, 'This sounds like a threat!'
Vice President JD Vance has found himself at the center of an online controversy following remarks he made about his wife, Usha Vance, who also holds the title of Second Lady of the United States. The incident took place during a public appearance in Michigan, where his comments quickly drew widespread criticism across social media platforms. A video capturing Vance’s statement, which he seemingly intended as a lighthearted joke, did not sit well with the internet audience. Standing with Usha positioned behind him, Vance acknowledged her contributions as Second Lady before quipping, «Here's the thing. The cameras are all on; anything I say, no matter how crazy, she has to smile, laugh and celebrate it.» True to his words, Usha responded accordingly, smiling and laughing as the gathered crowd reacted to his comment.

UK PM Starmer tells global leaders to 'keep the pressure' on Putin over ceasefire in Ukraine
Keir Starmer has told global leaders to «keep the pressure» on Russian President Vladimir Putin to back a ceasefire in Ukraine. In his opening remarks Saturday to a virtual gathering of what he has termed the "coalition of the willing," Starmer said Putin will «sooner or later» have to «come to the table.» Unlike the first summit on March 2, the meeting of what Starmer has termed the «coalition of the willing» is being conducted virtually. The call is expected to delve into how countries can help Ukraine militarily and financially as well as gauging support for any future possible peacekeeping mission. «If Russia finally comes to the table, then we must be ready to monitor a ceasefire to ensure it is a serious, and enduring peace,» Starmer told leaders, in remarks released by his office ahead of the meeting. «If they don't, then we need to strain every sinew to ramp up economic pressure on Russia to secure an end to this war.» Like last time, there will be no representative from the United States, which has shifted its approach on the war since the return of President Donald Trump to the White House. The change of approach relative to that taken by Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden, became particularly notable after Trump clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Feb. 28 in the Oval Office.

Indian reveals friend who moved abroad now followed traffic rules faithfully. Netizens say 'Indians are experts in adaptation'
Recollecting a video conversation with his friend, the Reddit user detailed, “He was standing in an orderly manner at a supermarket checkout, patiently explaining the self-service process and the systematic way people respect traffic regulations. This is the very same person who, back in India, had a habit of cutting in line at bus stops and treating traffic signals as optional. The amusing part? I was always the one trying to stop him from doing so!” The post resonated with numerous readers, sparking discussions on human adaptability. One response noted, “People conform to their surroundings. If you are in an environment where everyone adheres to protocols, you will likely do the same. However, if you find yourself in a setting where people constantly push forward without order, you either join them or risk being left behind.”

India slams Pakistan for 'unjustified' reference to Jammu and Kashmir in UNGA
India has slammed Pakistan for its «unjustified» reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the UN General Assembly, with New Delhi asserting that such remarks will neither validate the country's claim nor justify its practice of cross-border terrorism. «As is their habit, the former foreign secretary of Pakistan today has made an unjustified reference to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,» India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador P Harish, said in remarks on Friday in the General Assembly at the informal meeting of the plenary to commemorate the International Day to combat Islamophobia.

'Why oppose Hindi but profit from dubbing movies in it?': Pawan Kalyan slams Tamil Nadu leaders over NEP row
Pawan Kalyan on Friday criticized Tamil Nadu politicians for what he called «hypocrisy» regarding the alleged imposition of Hindi in the state. He pointed out that while these leaders oppose Hindi, they allow Tamil movies to be dubbed in the language for financial gain. «I do not understand why some criticize Sanskrit. Why do Tamil Nadu politicians oppose Hindi while allowing their movies to be dubbed in Hindi for financial gain? They want money from Bollywood but refuse to accept Hindi--what kind of logic is that?» Kalyan asked while addressing the party's 12th foundation day at Pithampuram in Kakinada. Kalyan's comments come amid Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin accusing the Union government of 'Hindi imposition' and refusing to implement the three-language formula laid out in the NEP as a protest. Emphasizing India's linguistic diversity, Kalyan said that the country needs multiple languages, including Tamil, rather than just two dominant ones. «India needs multiple languages, including Tamil, not just two. We must embrace linguistic diversity — not only to maintain the integrity of our nation but also to foster love and unity among its people,» Kalyan said.

United G7 warns Russia to back Ukraine truce
Meeting at a rustic hotel in rural Quebec, G7 foreign ministers also backed Ukraine's fight for its «territorial integrity» and spoke of Russia's «aggression,» terminology earlier eschewed by Trump as he reached out to Moscow. The consensus on Ukraine came despite mounting tension within the G7 — Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States as Trump slaps punishing tariffs on allies and questions the very sovereignty of host Canada. A G7 statement backed a US-led call for a 30-day truce embraced by Ukraine and «called for Russia to reciprocate by agreeing to a ceasefire on equal terms and implementing it fully.» «They discussed imposing further costs on Russia in case such a ceasefire is not agreed, including through further sanctions, caps on oil prices, as well as additional support for Ukraine, and other means,» such as using frozen Russian assets.

Loyal dog detects woman’s cancer days before doctor's diagnosis. Do dogs have a sixth sense?
According to New York Post, Bortner had been feeling fatigued for a year but had no reason to suspect anything serious. However, while scratching a mosquito bite near her breast, she discovered a lump. Aware of stories about dogs detecting cancer through scent, she decided to get checked. A few days later, doctors diagnosed her with stage 2B triple-negative invasive ductal carcinoma—an aggressive form of breast cancer that does not respond to common hormonal treatments. “That’s how fast and aggressive this triple-negative breast cancer is,” Bortner said. “It went from non-feel-able, non-detectable to a physical lump within three months.”
