telecom industry recorded a 1.88% sequential growth in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) to Rs 67,835 crore in the October-December quarter, led by growth of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, which expanded their 5G services. State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) also saw its AGR for mobile services rise but cash-strapped Vodafone Idea continued to witness a decline. As per data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday, of the total AGR of the telecom industry, access or mobile services contributed 82.07% at Rs 55,669.76 crore while NLD (national long distance) AGR stood at 6,523.30 crore and ISP (internet service provider) AGR at Rs 3,881.79 crore.

Tata Consumer Products' board of directors on Tuesday recommended a dividend payment of Rs 7.75 per share for the year ended March 31, 2024. The decision was taken in a board meeting held today to approve the company's January-March quarter earnings and the announcement was made after market hours. Tata Consumer shares today ended at Rs 1173 on the NSE, up by Rs 0.80 or 0.07% from the Monday closing price.

Tata Consumer Products on Tuesday reported 19% fall in its consolidated net profit to Rs 217 crore for the quarter ended March 2024. It was Rs 269 crore in the last-year period. Revenue from operations during the reporting period rose 8% year-on-year to Rs 3,927 crore, compared with Rs 3,618 crore in the previous year quarter.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has declared the early redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) from the 2017-18 Series IV and 2018-19 Series II tranches, due on April 23. The announcement aligns with the terms stated in the Government of India notifications on October 6, 2017, and October 8, 2018. These terms allow holders the option for early redemption after five years from the issue date, coinciding with the interest payment dates on these bonds.

U.S. stocks have clawed back some of their losses from last week

ACC Ltd. traded 1.9 per cent up at Rs 2449.05 at around 12:17PM (IST) on Tuesday. The stock had closed at Rs 2403.25 in the previous session. Equity benchmark Sensex traded 265.83 points higher at 73914.45 around the same time.

India, the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of spices, has sought details from food safety regulators of Singapore and Hong Kong, which has banned certain spices of Indian brands MDH and Everest due to quality concerns. The commerce ministry has also directed Indian embassies in both Singapore and Hong Kong to send a detailed report on the matter. The ministry has also sought details from the Indian firms — MDH and Everest, whose products have been banned for allegedly containing pesticide 'ethylene oxide' beyond permissible limits. «Details have been sought from the companies. Root cause of the rejection and corrective actions will be determined along with the exporters concerned,» a commerce ministry official said.

Trideep Bhattacharya, CIO, Equities,Edelweiss MF, says the market is chugging along, given that earnings are still intact and overall growth rate continues to be broad based, not just amongst largecaps but among mid and smallcaps also. That is keeping the mid and smallcap share prices reasonably buoyant in the near term. Bhattacharya further says: "Over the last three to four months, from underweight, we have gone to neutral IT services. Overall, we will expect great growth rates in the near term, but over the next two to three years, earnings are broadly bouncing around the bottom. We think that when next year global growth picks up after a bit of weakness, you would see this sector starting to do well."
