Delhi news: Massive fire erupts at Alipur market; three dead, search for others underway
At least three people were killed in a massive fire that broke out in a paint factory at Dayalpur Market in Alipur of North Delhi on Thursday evening, Delhi Police said. "Charred bodies of the three persons were recovered from the premises of the factory located at Dayalpur Market in Alipur," news agency PTI reported quoting fire officials.

Nitin Gadkari launches 28 NH projects worth Rs 6,600cr in Odisha
Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 28 national highway (NH) projects worth Rs 6,600 crore in Odisha. Though his visit to Odisha was cancelled at the last minute, Gadkari launched these projects virtually. Among the inaugurated projects were a 79km four-lane road between Baharagora and Singhara on NH-49, valued at Rs 1,203 crore, and a 78km six-lane road from Chandikhol to Bhadrak on NH-16, costing Rs 2,035 crore. Additionally, the minister laid the foundation stones for 26 other road infrastructure projects in the state. During the event, Gadkari highlighted the significant progress in national highway development in Odisha since 2014.

If credit and deposit growth rates remain steady, a period of deposit competition looms, squeezing bank margins to 2.9% from 3%, it said. “ Private-sector banks are likely to bear the brunt of the situation, as they are already operating at much higher LDRs," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Deepali V Seth Chhabria. «Adding to the stresses on the private-sector banks, the lenders are growing at a much faster pace than the public-sector banks.» Indian banks' credit deposit ratio reached a two-decade high of 80% in December 2023. While the credit growth is 1.5 times the nominal GDP, deposits are rising only in line with the nominal GDP.
