Balaknath evades question on being among CM probables in Rajasthan
Rajasthan BJP leader Balaknath remained non-committal on Monday over the possibility of his becoming the chief minister of the state, even as his name is doing the rounds for the top post after the saffron party's emphatic victory in the just-concluded Assembly polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power in Rajasthan on Sunday, winning 115 of the 199 seats that went to polls. The Congress, which was hoping to buck the trend of the incumbent being voted out in the desert state every five years, ended up winning 68 seats.

Government says over 1.06 lakh companies voluntarily exited in last five years
Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). «From FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24 (up to 30th November, 2023) 1,06,561 companies have exited voluntarily under section 248(2) of the Companies Act, 2013. »From FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24 (up to 30th September 2023) final reports of 1,168 companies have been submitted by liquidators under section 59 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code), of which final dissolution orders have been passed by NCLT in 633 cases during the said period," Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh told the Lok Sabha.

Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case related to the excise policy case until December 11, 2023. Meanwhile, the court also ordered to supply an advance copy of the supplementary chargesheet to Sanjay Singh's lawyer and noted that the bail arguments are to be held on December 6, 2023. Earlier during the arguments, the Enforcement Directorate filed an application stating that the names of one protected witness had been mentioned by mistake and hence the same shall not come into the public domain due to their protection. The court has reserved the order for the interim court and directed the court staff to keep the file in secrecy. However, the court, while ordering to serve the advance copy to Sanjay Singh's lawyer, allowed ED to remove or hide such a portion mentioning the protected witness name.

SpiceJet gets some respite as NCLT dismisses Willis Lease plea for insolvency
NEW DELHI : In some relief for SpiceJet, the National Company Law Tribunal on Monday dismissed a plea by aircraft lessor Willis Lease Finance Corp. to initiate insolvency proceedings against the cash-strapped airline. But apart from Willis Lease Finance, three other lessors—Celestial Aviation, Wilmington Trust, and Aircastle Ltd—have similar pleas pending with NCLT to admit SpiceJet into insolvency over unpaid dues.

Crime against women: 4.45 lakh FIRs filed in 2022, almost 51 every hour. Delhi tops the list
National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Delhi registered the highest rate of crime against women in the country in 2022. The national capital recorded 14,247 cases in 2022 with a rate of 144.4 (per lakh), which was way above the national average of 66.4. The crime against women in the national capital stood at 14,277 in 2021 and 10,093 in 2020, reported PTI.

Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan report highest urban unemployment in July-September
Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) of the National Sample Survey Office, Himachal Pradesh topped the urban unemployment chart with 33.9%, followed by Rajasthan with 30.20% among the age group of 15 to 29 years during July-September 2023, against the national average of 17.3% of the same age group during the period, reported PTI. The PLFS data also revealed that the urban female unemployment rate in Himachal Pradesh was 49.2% among the 15-29 age group in the July-September quarter of this fiscal year as compared to 25.3% of males in the state. Rajasthan registered 39.4% of urban female unemployment in the quarter as against 27.2% in males, the PLFS data revealed.

In an interview with ETimes, the actor’s long-time friend Salam Kazi confirmed the sad news. He also said that the actor was being treated at home and had his family by his side. He also stated that the cancer had metastasised and spread to his lungs. “The cancer was detected only a month ago and he’s on its fourth stage and has affected his lungs and other parts. Doctors told us that he has only 40 days but we are all praying for him.” Fellow actor-comedian Raju Shrestha shared a picture of Mehmood on the bed and appealed to his followers to pray for him. The tweet gained more than 263K views and 3.3K likes on Twitter. As per reports, comedian Johnny Lever was the only industry personality who visited him. “Junior Mehmood has produced Marathi films and earned money from them. But he is grateful to Johnny Lever who was the first person to visit him from the film industry,” said Kazi. He said that despite objections from Mehmood’s family, the ‘Baazigar’ actor left money to aid the treatment.
