U.S elections: Will Project 2025 be Donald Trump's waterloo?
Heritage Foundation came up with Project 2025 back in 2022. It aims to provide a comprehensive framework of policy for the Republican administration in future. It is focused on the outline of the series of few proposals, which are intended to reform the shape of the federal governance and the in-line policies with the conservative values. However, it has become a focal point of controversy as Donald Trump goes for the campaign for another term. It raises concerns about the potential strategies of implementation of Donald Trump’s electoral prospects, an Independent report said. Critics come with the argument that this project is formed to reflect an extreme approach to governance which has the tendency of alienating the moderate voters. The proposal of this initiative might develop significant inclusion of the rollbacks of the environmental regulations and take the common people away from addressing climate change. Cocktail machines, powered by AI, are creating a stir. Can they replace the human bartender?
What if all these are possible just by touching a screen in your living room? What if all the secrets of a dirty martini, a classic Negroni, a stately old fashioned, or a colourful cosmopolitan are at your fingertips rather than in the dexterous hands of a mixologist in a bar? For, the new cocktail is brought to you by AI. Barsys, a New York-headquartered home automation company, has launched its AI-powered cocktail machine in India after debuting it at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January this year. Called Barsys 360 and costing Rs 55,700, this halo-like automated bartending machine can mix over 1,000 cocktails, some within 15 seconds and all of them customisable to the last ml. It can even personalise the drinking experience by recommending new cocktails based on previous preferences and selections.

Till debt has done us part with kindness
Ganga. What was noteworthy was not the fact that unlike the more hapless victims sacrificed to the unfeeling river goddesses and gods each year, this quotidian event only made headlines because he was a senior bureaucrat. Instead, his death should bring to our attention how far the quality of money strains the value of life. Aditya Vardhan Singh, deputy director of UP health department, drowned because he was caught in the vice of a current. Three friends reportedly tried to coax divers to rescue him. They demanded ₹10k. Not having ready cash available, one of Singh's friends attempted a UPI transfer. But by the time this was completed, the struggling victim disappeared. In this instance, an unwillingness to extend aid resulted in the most extreme rejection of a debt obligation, doubly unfortunate because it also denies that we are all debtors and creditors simultaneously. Not just in the act of giving and receiving favours or promises from acquaintances and strangers, but also in the daily act of buying and selling goods and services to continue with life.

That painting’s a steal: How the Indian art fraternity is preserving their vintage collections
art thief. For one, art thieves in movies are portrayed as being suave and sophisticated as opposed to your sneaky and slithery garden-variety thief. These are people who, one is made to believe, enjoy the finer things in life and, yes, can engage in a conversation with a liberal sprinkling of phrases like how a painting talks to the performative sensibility of the sublime and evokes the oblique objectives of precarious assemblages. Romanticisation of criminality—and gibberish—aside, art has aesthetic, emotional and monetary value, and where there is value there is greed. Little surprise then that India’s art community was shaken up when SH Raza’s 1992 painting Nature, valued at around `2.5 crore, reportedly went missing from Astaguru’s warehouse in Mumbai. The auction house has filed a police complaint, according to a report in the Times of India on September 11. The painting was put up by its owner Indra Veer for auctioning in 2020, and was last seen in March 2022. The case has put the spotlight on the safety of high-value art, even as the market for Indian art soars. According to the 2024 Hurun India Art List, sales by the top 50 artists reached a record-breaking `301 crore, a 19%increase from 2023.

Zelenskyy hopes for quick US action as more arms depots are hit in Russia
drone attack set multiple Russian arms depots ablaze, including one deep inside the country, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed for quick action from the United States to send more weapons ahead of his visit to the White House with a multi-point "victory plan." Ukraine launched over 100 drones at Russia and occupied Crimea overnight, Russian news reports and the Defense Ministry said Saturday. The strikes set an arms depot on fire that appeared to be in the same town as one struck by Ukrainian drones early Wednesday, injuring 13 people and also causing a huge blaze. Arms and ammunition depots were also hit in southwestern Russia, sparking speculation that missiles supplied to Moscow by North Korea may have been destroyed.

Despite good economic news, experts warn the pain’s not over yet
Inflation is back at the coveted two per cent annual rate.Wage hikes have outpaced inflation for 19 months in a row.The Bank of Canada is three rate cuts into an easing cycle, with no signs of stopping anytime soon. The recent run of positive economic news had the Liberal government — long challenged by an affordability crisis in Canada — celebrating in the House of Commons this week.Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland on Tuesday hailed the August inflation report as “good news for Canadians” and the “light at the end of the tunnel” after years of surging prices and pandemic-related disruptions in the economy.RBC assistant chief economist Nathan Janzen tells Global News that there’s indeed reason to celebrate as price stability shows signs of returning and the Bank of Canada unwinds from the most rapid tightening cycle in its history. But he also warns that focusing on inflation and rate cuts may ignore economic pain looming for Canadians around the corner.“Light at the end of the tunnel, silver lining, whatever the phrase you want to use is, it’s important to remember that what we’re seeing in terms of inflation and the interest rate cuts is a result of a softening Canadian economy,” Janzen says.“So it’s not all great news.”Quick refresher on how all of these dynamics play together: when inflation is trending away from the Bank of Canada’s two per cent target, the central bank will raise its policy rate in an effort to rein in rampant price growth.Higher interest rates raise the cost of borrowing for Canadians, businesses and governments.

Suresh Prabhu for setting up food testing labs at 'prasadam' distribution spots amid Tirupati laddu row
Suresh Prabhu on Saturday called for setting up food testing labs by FSSAI at all public places where 'prasadam' is distributed to ensure quality, amid the Tirupati laddu row. The cost of these testing labs can easily be borne by organisations who run such mass feeding programmes, he said. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's claim that animal fat was used in Tirupati laddus during the previous government triggered a massive political row, with the YSRCP accusing Naidu of indulging in «heinous allegations» for political gains and the TDP circulating a lab report to back its claim. «To address issues arising out of #TirupatiPrasadam we must ensure at all public places where #Prasadam #food is distributed @fssaiindia set up food testing labs to ensure food distribution is in line with expectations of general public/ devotees, conforms to desired quality,» Prabhu said in a post on social media platform X.

Gandhi has been accused of making objectionable comments during the 2018 Karnataka polls about Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was the BJP president then.
