RBI tells banks to take legal recourse in standoff with CBI
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has advised banks to seek legal remedy in case of a stand-off with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over matters classified as fraud. The RBI's advice was in response to the CBI returning complaints filed by some banks to probe accounts tagged as fraud and where they have already filed an FIR (first information report). In several cases, the investigative agency has informed the lender that its complaint has been returned because the borrower concerned has not been given an in-person hearing before the account was classified as fraud.

Loss-making MNCs liable to pay tax on India setup
India or engaging people to promote, operate and grow their businesses from the Indian market will have to pay tax attributable to such setups even if these MNCs report losses in their global balance-sheets. This was laid down by a three-judge bench of the Delhi High Court in a ruling which would impact several MNCs using liaison office, subsidiary, or a fixed place like a hotel room — arrangements which are considered as 'permanent establishment' or PEs in tax parlance — to meet customers, negotiate prices, and market products and services. The ruling, pronounced on September 19, was in response to a petition by the UAE-based Hyatt International Southwest Asia which had a fixed place or PE in India at the premises of Hyatt Regency hotel in Delhi.

JD Vance’s pet-eating story faces another embarrassing turn; here's what it is
Miss Sassy is safe. Another embarrassing snag has been hit by J D Vance's pet-eating hoax. JD Vance's claim that Haitian immigrants are stealing and eating pets has encountered yet another awkward turn of events. In response to criticism regarding the hoax, Vance's campaign this week provided the Wall Street Journal with a police report that described a Springfield, Ohio, resident's allegation that her cat had mysteriously disappeared in August. According to Vance's team, the report provided evidence that there was cause for concern regarding the safety of Springfield's pets. But as it happens, Miss Sassy, the missing cat, was safe all along, just like Sassy, the cat from Homeward Bound. Her owner, Anna Kilgore, reported to the Journal that her cat's journey home was a little bit shorter. She spent the entire time hiding in her basement, only to reappear a few days after she reported her missing to the police. Kilgore told the Journal that she used her daughter and a translation app to apologize to her Haitian neighbours. Kilgore was seen holding a Trump 2024 flag and sporting a shirt bearing the same slogan.

2024 PT5: All about the asteroid that will become Earth's mini moon for two months
Earth's moon will have company for almost two months: a second moon. According to a study published in the journal Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society, 2024 PT5, an asteroid from the Arjuna asteroid belt, will technically be caught in the Earth's gravitational pull rather than a second moon. This is the number of mini-moons that form. When an object in space experiences Earth's gravitational pull, it can turn into an orbiter by fully rotating around the planet, or it can be called a flyby if it only partially rotates around the planet, as 2024 PT5 is currently doing. The horseshoe-shaped trajectory of 2024 PT5, which was discovered on August 7, indicates that it will complete a semi-orbit of Earth before resuming its regular orbit around the sun. The mini-moon, according to researchers, will occur between September 29 and November 25. Also Read :U.S Elections: Kamala Harris leading in all polls? Three Muslim organisations support Waqf Bill at Parliament panel meet
NDA and opposition members, three Muslim organisations, including an RSS-linked outfit, on Friday supported the proposed amendments to the Waqf law before a parliamentary panel, sources said. When the three Muslim organisations — All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, RSS-linked Muslim Rashtriya Manch and NGO Bharat First — made their presentations separately before the Joint Committee on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, some opposition members sought to find flaws in their claims. Shiv Sena member in the Committee Naresh Mhaske is learnt to have told opposition members that they should be open to listening to the point of view of the other side, a suggestion that led to a brief exchange of words between the NDA and opposition. Some opposition members also wondered whether the Sufi Shah Malang sect comprising fakirs, who appeared before the Committee, formed part of the Muslim community.

U.S Presidential debate: Were ABC News moderators biased against Trump? Sen Tom Cotton raises questions after new video surfaces
Senator Tom Cotton, following various eminent political personalities who already criticized the US Presidential Debate, has also raised questions about certain claims made by Vice President Kamala Harris during the debate, which were eventually found out to be not valid. According to Fox News, when Kamala Harris made a claim about absence of US Military in the war or combat zones which is a proven lie, she was not at all stopped or fact checked by the US Presidential Debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis. Senator Tom Cotton further asserted that as former President Donald Trump was constantly stopped during his speeches and was being fact-checked by the moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, whereas Kamala Harris was not even fact-checked once in spite of making false claims about the military whatsoever proves that the US Presidential Debate was utterly biased, reported Fox News.
