Flood-like situation in Bihar: CM inspects affected areas, 5 lives lost so far
Nitish Kumar inspected the rising water levels of the Ganga at key locations in Patna and Hajipur on Saturday and urged district officials to «remain alert and be prepared to tackle any situation» in light of the developments. Officials said the river is flowing above the danger mark at Digha Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, Hathidah, and Maner in Patna district and consequently several low-lying areas in Patna and Hajipur (Vaishali district) have been inundated. The rising trend is not limited to the Ganga, almost all rivers in the state are affecting low-lying localities. So far, around five people -four in Saran and one in Bhojpur — have lost their lives after water inundated their areas, they added. Accompanied by senior officials, the Chief Minister inspected Ganga's water levels near J P Setu, Kangan Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, and Krishna Ghat.

The puzzle of how thousands of pagers were sabotaged in an Israeli attack on Hezbollah this past week has sparked investigations into the supply chain behind them, leading investigators to a labyrinth of shadowy companies and individuals spanning Asia and Eastern Europe. The search for who was behind the manufacturing, sale and distribution of the pagers has pointed to some companies that were created in recent years, with little to no paper trail of their activities and run by mysterious business people with a vague online footprint and little experience in the telecommunications industry.

Why you need to ditch BMI for better ways to assess your health
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. There used to be a time when upon joining a gym, the first thing trainers would make you do would be to stand on a BMI (body mass index) machine, enter your height and weight, and wait while it whirred and spat out a receipt with your number. While BMI is basically a value derived from the mass (weight) and height of a person, the machine would also give data on visceral fat, real age and other determinants that could either be impressive or scary or both.

Indian population: The final census
population data is crucial for policy formulation for any group or community. With this in mind, the British government initiated the census in India, which has continued even after independence. The first post-independence census was conducted in 1951, and since then, a total of seven censuses have been carried out until 2011, at intervals of every ten years. However, for the first time since independence, the 2021 census, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has yet to take place. With the approval of the Kovind Committee's report on «One Nation, One Election» by the Cabinet, hopes for conducting the census have risen, as it is crucial for the delimitation of the Assembly and Parliamentary Constituencies.

Qualcomm asked chip rival Intel if it would consider a sale
Qualcomm has approached its rival Intel in recent days about the possibility of acquiring the slumping Silicon Valley giant, two people familiar with the matter said Friday, requesting anonymity because the talks were confidential. Qualcomm has not yet made an official offer for Intel, one of the people said, and the obstacles to a deal remain steep. Any deal would likely draw significant regulatory scrutiny, given the mammoth size and national security importance of both chip companies. It is unclear whether regulators would allow Qualcomm to buy Intel without taking on its struggling foundry business, and it remains equally unclear whether Qualcomm would want to take on that complex endeavor. A deal would also be costly. Intel, which has seen its shares fall nearly 40% over the last year, has a market capitalization of $93 billion. Qualcomm, which has seen its shares rise 55%, has a market value of $169 billion.
