Growth potential of Raymond’s Thane project is Rs 25,000 crore over several years: Group CFO
Amit Agarwal, Group CFO, Raymond, says “the growth potential of Thane is Rs 25,000 crore over several years and Rs 5000 crore we have already signed. So, we are in a decent spot in order to take this business really-really forward. The demerger is on so hopefully by mid-May, we should be able to announce that de-merger. The SEBI approval is in place, now the NCLT and the other process is on. So, to that extent, you will have separate companies for real estate as well as for the lifestyle. Our target is that Thane should be in the range of 50 to 60% of the revenue mix over the next three, four years, and 40% to 45% should come out of Thane.” How was Diwali and Christmas? Any reasons for your shareholders to get worried? Amit Agarwal: No. I think Diwali was great. People had a really good time. There has been a sort of hiatus of almost seven-eight months when people were not into so much of shopping in the first half and going up to August-September because of that extra month of Malmas (inauspicious period) and as soon as that Malmas got over, people started to come back and saw a great shopping trend there.

Do you know how to stay safe if you lose heat during extreme cold?
Extreme cold has swept across Canada, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds and breaking temperature records in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. Those temperatures, the Red Cross warns, can bring frostbite and hypothermia — even death.“As Canadians, no matter where we are, whether it’s Winnipeg or up north or Victoria, we all experience some level of winter,” said Jason Small, Canadian Red Cross spokesperson.“And we need to be prepared for that.”The advice comes as Alberta has issued multiple alerts to the public over the last three days to immediately conserve electricity as its provincial power grid strains to keep up with demands amid the frigid temperatures.Parts of B.C. and southern Ontario are also facing deep freezes.Searches for terms like “extreme cold” have spiked on Google among Canadian users and are projected to keep climbing.

Which are the areas of the market where risk reward is very juicy even now? Vinay Jaising answers
Vinay Jaising, MD, JM Financial Services, says “we are still a lot more comfortable in a lot of mid and smallcap names wherein we are seeing earnings visibility leading to earnings growth drivers. If earlier you had an EPS of a company which was X and that is going up by 20 to 25%, your new PE may not be as high as what you are expecting. So for us, it is all about bottom-up fishing and looking at stocks where valuations are not expensive. Is valuation becoming a bit of an issue now for your stock picking process because I am sure the flows are good and plus your existing portfolio would also be expanding due to market going higher? How are you dealing with the challenge of rising valuations? Vinay Jaising: As you put it, valuations are close to peak for many stocks. People say largecap valuations are a little cheaper than what they were in the past or on a relative basis, you know, probably cheaper. If I would take the Nifty50 and take the seven largecap stocks which grew, I would say, at much lower rates last year of 7-8%, rest of the 43 stocks grew by over 30%. So valuations all over are an issue.

Aircraft confinement: There must be a way out
Even as Delhi shivers, tempers are flaring at its airport. On Monday, a passenger on a Delhi-to-Goa flight was arrested after he assaulted the pilot, who had stepped into the passenger cabin to announce a delay in taking off on account of heavy fog. While circumstances can get aggravating for passengers confined to a long metal tube for longer than they expect, what the irate passenger did was unpardonable.

Alert first, act fast: Diktat on data breaches soon
₹250 crore in case of a data breach. For the average user, the rules put in place rights to access their information by any entity, withdrawal of consent, and enable mechanisms to correct or erase personal data and mechanisms of redressal in cases of breach. Legal experts pointed out that proposed rules may increase compliance burden, since companies already have to report breaches to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In), the government agency that coordinates cybersecurity efforts, within six hours.
