Abhishek Bachchan compares his mother Jaya's sacrifices to those of Aishwarya amid divorce rumours
Abhishek Bachchan recently took the opportunity to acknowledge the unwavering support of his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Speaking in an interview, the actor expressed deep gratitude for Aishwarya's role as a devoted mother to their daughter, Aaradhya. He emphasized how her commitment to their family allows him to focus on his career in films. In an interview with The Hindu, the Dasvi actor noted that while he is often away working on his projects, Aishwarya remains a constant presence at home, taking care of Aaradhya. He said, “Even in my household, I'm very lucky I get to go out and make the movies. But I know that Aishwarya is at home with Aaradhya, and I thank her immensely for that.” He highlighted the importance of her selflessness in creating a stable environment for their daughter. Despite this, Abhishek acknowledged that children often don’t perceive their parents' sacrifices; they see their parents simply as caregivers who are always expected to be there.

Microfinance sector tightens lending norms to address asset quality stress
Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), one of the two self-regulatory organisations for the sector, has decided to implement a stricter set of guardrails for its members to help them overcome the severe asset quality stress that they are subjected to at present. The new norms, when implemented, are expected to squeeze the quantum of credit delivery to customers at the bottom of the income pyramid and reduce their over-indebtedness, which has been at the heart of the present sectoral crisis. MFIN has requested its members to stop lending to delinquent customers who have overdue loans for more than 60 days with an outstanding amount more than Rs 3000. The existing industry norm was not lending to a client with overdue for more than 90 days with more than Rs 3000. If a loan is not serviced for 90 days, it is classified as non-performing.

Women welfare schemes a big factor in NDA wins
BJP and its allies have outdone their political opponents in wooing this segment through targeted welfare schemes including Ladki Behen yojana, training women to become “drone didis”, more sops for aaganwadi workers, Ujjwala LPG cylinder scheme, and registering homes given under the PM Awas Yojana in the name of women. Ex-Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar lead the pack as far as women welfare schemes are concerned. Chouhan launched the highly successful Ladli Lakshmi yojana for girls on April 1, 2007, nearly two decades back and reaped political dividends from it. Buoyed by its success, Chouhan tried uplift his waning popularity in 2023 just months ahead of the Assembly elections by inaugurating another scheme for women- Ladli Lakshmi yojana. While all intended beneficiaries could not be added in the six months before the code of conduct kicked in, most women who got the funds backed BJP.

Eastern states were earlier considered backward, I view them as country's growth engine: PM Modi
«Odisha has always been a land of seers and scholars. The way the scholars here took our religious texts to every household and connected the public with those, it has played a crucial role in the cultural prosperity of India. »There was a time when India's eastern region and the states there were called backward. However, I consider India's eastern region as the country's growth engine. That is why we have prioritised the development of India's eastern region," he said.

Over six lakh devotees visit Sabarimala in nine days; revenue touches Rs 41 crore
Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) announced on Sunday that over six lakh devotees have visited the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple, within the first nine days of the Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. TDB President P S Prasanth said the temple, which opened on November 16 (Vrishchikam 1), witnessed 6,12,290 pilgrims during this period. This marks a significant increase compared to the 3,03,501 devotees who visited during the same timeframe last year. The revenue collected during this period has also risen significantly to Rs 41.64 crore, reflecting an increase of Rs 13.33 crore compared to the previous season. Addressing the media at Sannidhanam, Prasanth attributed the rise to «effective management and improved facilities for devotees.» To facilitate a smooth darshan experience, three spot online booking centers have been established at Vandiperiyar Sathram, Erumeli, and Pamba. Elaborate arrangements have been made at the Manappuram online booking center in Pamba to handle the growing influx of devotees, said Prasanth.
