Jio Financial Services (JFS) fell 1.7% on Friday, extending its losing run to the fifth straight session following its listing on the bourses on August 21. The stock ended at Rs 212.25 on Friday, almost 20% below its listing price of Rs 265 after hitting the lowest tradable limit for four straight days till Thursday. The stock decline resulted in Jio Financial's market capitalisation falling to Rs 1.35 lakh crore from Rs 1.61 lakh crore on the listing day. Concerns over elevated valuation coupled with selling by passive funds resulted in the stock decline during the listing week, according to analysts.

Mutual Fund (MF) acquired 3.72 crore of Jio Financial Services Ltd (JFSL)shares, which is the demerged non-banking financial services (NBFC) unit of the Mukesh Ambani's Reliance group, for ₹754 crore via open market transaction. According to the NSE's bulk deal data, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund purchased 3,72,00,000 shares, or 0.6% of Jio Financial Services. US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech at Jackson Hole. The domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net buyers again and invested ₹1,414 crore during the session. As per the NSE data, FIIs cumulatively bought ₹10,929.61 crore of Indian equities, while they sold ₹15,567.82 crore --- resulting in an outflow of ₹4,638.21 crore.

Nifty to decline for the second consecutive session while investors directed their attention towards the Jackson Hole symposium in search of indications about the future direction of interest rates. Shoppers Stop share price cracked over 11 per cent in morning trade on BSE on Friday (August 25) a day after the company said the company's managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) Venu Nair resigned from his position. Shares of the company opened at ₹799.85 against the previous close of ₹811.45 and plunged 11.34 per cent to the level of ₹719.45 in trade soon. Around 11:45 am, the stock was trading at ₹724.65, down 10.70 per cent, on BSE.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) share price fell almost 2 per cent in morning trade on BSE on Friday, looking set to extend their losing run into the second consecutive session amid weak market sentiment. The stock opened at ₹2,686.95 against the previous close of ₹2,687.50 and slipped 1.86 per cent to the intraday low of ₹2,637.55 in Friday's trade so far. Market participants said the stock is witnessing some profit booking as it has gained strongly in the recent past.

Sensex declined 480.05 points to 64772.29. As many as 149,768 shares changed hands on the counter with a total value of Rs 992.0 crore. The stock quoted a 52-week high price of Rs 775.0 and a 52-week low of Rs 557.15. On the technical charts, the 200-DMA of the stock stood at Rs 642.14, while 50-DMA was at Rs 638.36. If a stock trades above 50 DMA and 200 DMA, it usually means the immediate trend is up.
