Nation paid price for BJP's compulsion to get 'chanda' at all costs: Congress
Congress on Thursday alleged that the BJP's compulsion to get donations at all costs saw it go ahead with the electoral bonds scheme without heeding RBI's astute advice, as it claimed that over Rs 430 crore was donated to the ruling party by 33 companies that had negative or near zero profit. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared a report by The Hindu on X which said that 33 loss-making firms donated electoral bonds worth Rs 582 crore with 75 per cent going to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). «There are four primary channels of corruption in the Electoral Bond Scam, and with each passing day, more examples emerge to confirm the shocking reality of the corruption which has engulfed this country through Narendra Modi's encouragement,» Ramesh alleged. «An update on the latest revelations on the 'Farzi Companies' who have been donating chanda to the BJP Chanda Do, Dhandha Lo; Theka Lo, Rishvat Do; Hafta Vasuli; Farzi Companies,» he said in a post on X.

Supreme Court has awarded a compensation of $35 million (approximately ₹292 crore) to a former Morgan employee after a glass door of a building in New York City—in which she was having a physical therapy appointment— suddenly shattered on her in 2015, leaving her with permanent brain damage, the New York Post reported. The report said the ruling in favour of Meghan Brown, 36, followed a three weeks trial and the court was shown the shocking CCTV footage of the incident—now viral on social media—in which the 7.5-foot-tall lobby door almost exploded on the JP Morgan employee while walking through it after a physical therapy appointment in the building.

Why 7,000 flats in Chennai remain empty? Shocking reasons inside
AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu built nearly 7,000 flats in Ennore for people with low income. These flats were made under a government scheme called Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. However, even after seven years, none of these flats are being lived in because the air quality in the area is very poor. Before 2017, the Ennore area was not suitable for housing because it was close to big industries. It was considered a 'Special and Hazardous Zone' where no homes could be built. But in 2018, the government changed this and allowed homes to be built there. Still, no one wanted to move into these flats.

RBI may hold rate yet again to focus on inflation management, say experts
RBI may again keep the key interest rate unchanged in April as it is likely to focus more on bringing down inflation to the 4 per cent target after concerns over economic growth abated with GDP growth estimated at nearly 8 per cent, said experts. Also, the Reserve Bank's rate-setting panel — Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) — may take cues from the central banks of some major economies like the US and UK, which are apparently in wait-and-watch mode on interest rate cuts. Switzerland has become the first major economy to cut interest rates, while Japan, the world's third-largest economy, ended its eight-year period of negative interest rates regime. The meeting of the Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das headed MPC is scheduled for April 3-5. The decision will be announced on April 5 (Friday). It will be the first bi-monthly monetary policy of fiscal 2024-25. A total of six MPC meetings are scheduled for the fiscal beginning April 1, 2024.
