COST Provident COMPOSITE show social Borrowing Unsustainable NOT India’s high public borrowing is not unsustainable. But it leaves little room for policy missteps
Even if high, India's public debt is not unsustainable as per the standard metrics. A first criterion for sustainability is whether there is a significant rollover risk, where government suddenly finds it impossible to replace maturing debt at any price. A captive market for public debt among banks, insurance companies, provident funds and high household savings has enabled the government to fund its deficits without undue pressure on borrowing costs.

Gap film Actor show performer star song play The Witcher Season 4: Liam Hemsworth to play Geralt amidst actors' strike
Geralt. However, in October 2022, it was announced that Liam Hemsworth would be taking on the role in The Witcher season 4. Hemsworth is widely recognized for his role as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games franchise and his breakout performance in the 2010 film The Last Song, in which he starred alongside Miley Cyrus. Fans eager to see Hemsworth's portrayal of Geralt will have to wait a bit as he will be joining The Witcher season 4 cast after the release of the latest episodes. Casting director Sophie Holland stated in May that filming for season 4 with Liam Hemsworth was about to begin, and there would be a short gap before moving on to season 5. However, this news was reported before the onset of an actors' strike in July, which has caused production halts for many shows. It remains unconfirmed whether The Witcher has been affected by the strike as well. In the trailer for the second part of Season 3, viewers were teased with an epic showdown between Geralt and the series' villain. Liam Hemsworth, aware of the challenge of replacing Henry Cavill, praised his performance as Geralt when announced as his replacement.

Booking VISA show country Tourists are back with a bang, but a long visa wait is keeping them away from the United States
Spain recovered 86% of its pre-pandemic tourist arrivals in 2022, and arrivals this year already show a 28% increase over 2019 levels. France follows closely with year-to-date international visitors numbering just 3% less than before the Covid-19 pandemic and their spending at record levels, according to Atout France, a government tourism agency. The US, on the other hand, is falling behind. International tourist arrivals remain at 26% below pre-pandemic levels, according to a June 2023 monthly report from the US Travel Association, with spending slower, too. At the close of 2022, international visitor spending in the US was at $99 billion, just over 50% of where it stood in 2019. That’s a far cry from 2019, when the US received 79.4 million visitors, who spent $181 billion. “The lag is very significant, and we are very concerned,” says Geoff Freeman, US Travel’s chief executive officer. “We estimate that this year alone we’re going to lose about 2.6 million international visitors and $7 billion less in spending.” The US travel industry isn’t expected to recover to 2019 levels until 2025. Those two additional years will translate into “billions of dollars of lost spending, of lost jobs,” says Freeman.
