Kahneman left this world, leaving behind his legacy of insights – that can make you a better investor!
“During World War II, a Jewish child feared being caught out past curfew by a German soldier. Instead, the soldier showed unexpected kindness, giving the child a hug, showing a photo of a kid, and offering him some money. This encounter taught this child that people are complex and interesting” This child was none other than Kahneman, whose fascination with human behaviour and psychology was sparked by his own experiences. Almost anyone who has ever heard the word ‘behavioural finance or economics’ might have heard about or read about ‘Daniel Kahneman’, the famous Nobel prize winner for his stupendous work in the space of uncovering cognitive biases of humans among financial decision making.

Hawkish Fed, other bearish factors hurting gold
gold recovered on Thursday and Friday ahead of the key US PCE inflation data due Friday. Spot gold managed to recover nearly 2% from the weekly low of $2293 as it rallied to $2339 level; however, the metal gave back some of its gains on the much awaited US PCE inflation data (May) coming in line with the forecast. The yellow metal closed with a loss of $1 at $2326 on Friday; it was up nearly 0.30% on the week though. The US Dollar Index gained further ground on Trump gaining an edge over Biden in the presidential debate Friday, though it gave back some of its gains on healthy risk appetite. The Index closed with a loss of 0.04% at 105.84 on Friday; it was up around 0.04% on the week. The ten-year US yields at 4.38% were up 2.28% on the day and were up around 4% on the week. The two-year yields were up 0.20% on the week as they closed around 4.75%.

T20 WC final: Not really concerned about Virat Kohli's form because team's form far more important, says Sanjay Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar is «not concerned» about misfiring Virat Kohli's form as he believes the overall momentum and form of the team is far more important ahead of the T20 World Cup final against South Africa. India's stalwart batter has struggled to boss around the bowlers just like he did while opening for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Since touching down in the USA and the West Indies for the marquee event, Kohli has been enduring a nightmare, chasing shadows of his former self and searching for runs from his bat throughout the marquee event.

Boeing in talks with US Department of Justice to resolve charges over safety lapses
Boeing Co. is in talks with the US Justice Department to resolve potential charges stemming from two fatal crashes of its 737 Max jetliners, according to people familiar with the negotiations. The settlement could be announced as soon as next week and is expected to include imposing a corporate monitor on the world’s second-largest planemaker, according to the people, who asked not to be identified disclosing confidential discussions. DOJ prosecutors want to bring charges against Boeing, but it isn’t clear if the company will agree to plead guilty, the people said. The talks center on the 2021 deferred-prosecution agreement struck between Boeing and the DOJ in the waning days of the Trump Administration, after two crashes that killed 346 people. Some family members of the victims have urged the government to file criminal charges, which could help them bring lawsuits against the company.

Buy on dips as Nifty & Bank Nifty look bullish; 3 stocks to bet on: Rajesh Palviya
Rajesh Palviya, Head-Technical Research, Axis Securities, says put writers are aggressive at 24,000 strike as well as 23,800 strike, and so these are the important levels on the downside to hold the market. If it holds the 24,000 level in the coming week, then this rally can extend higher, and the possible target for Nifty can be 24,400 also very soon. For Bank Nifty, 52,000 is the immediate support area based on the put concentration. The two levels – 52,000 as well as 51,800 – attracted more put writing in Friday's session also. If Bank Nifty crosses the 52,600 mark, then this rally can extend further towards 53,400 to 53,600. So, both indices are looking bullish at this moment; buy-on-dip should be your strategy. We have seen consecutive record highs on the benchmarks for the broader markets as well over the week. What sense are you making of these moves? Is this a too-much-too-soon kind of rally? Are you penciling in some kind of slowdown next week? What are the levels you are watching out for when it comes to the benchmarks?

Tax treatment of delayed payments to micro, small businesses in for a tweak
NEW DELHI : The government introduced a tax provision last year to prod large corporations into paying their micro and small enterprise vendors in time, only to hear concerns that it could backfire on the intended beneficiaries. It’s now looking to modify how large companies are taxed for delayed payments so that they do not decide to sidestep smaller vendors altogether to avoid the stringent tax treatment, said two officials aware of discussions in the government.
