Sab changa si? RBI MPC minutes suggest India is in a 'Goldilocks' scenario
inflation and growth forecast of 4.5 per cent and 7 per cent each for FY25, India's policymakers are inferring that the economy is in a 'Goldilocks scenario'. However, economists say they must err on the side of caution. The six members of the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) broadly agreed that while there is a need to be vigilant, there is some comfort in retail inflation in India. At the same time, they also agreed that the Indian economy is currently showing resilience on the growth front, according to the minutes of the latest policy meeting.

Nvidia adds record $277 billion in stock market value
Nvidia added $277 billion in stock market value on Thursday, Wall Street's largest one-day gain in history after the heavyweight chipmaker's quarterly report beat expectations and reignited a rally fueled by optimism about artificial intelligence. The company's stock soared 16.4% to close at $785.38, a record-high close, lifting its market capitalization to $1.96 trillion after its January-quarter report late on Wednesday showed demand for its specialized chips used in AI computing continued to outpace analysts' already-high expectations.

Yen sinks as currency traders keep short and carry on
yen sagged to fresh lows on the euro, sterling and other crosses this week and headed for a fourth weekly drop on the dollar as investors chased better yields just about everywhere but Japan, wagering rates there would stay near zero for some time. The yen is the worst-performing G10 currency this year, with a 6.4% slide on the dollar. The greenback is the best performing.

Arbitrage funds trump short-term debt, draw all-time high inflows
investors and family offices are pouring money into mutual funds' arbitrage schemes as better tax efficiency, higher returns than short-term debt funds, and no credit risk are boosting their popularity. Investors are increasingly using this category to park idle money typically for their short-term needs which have historically gone into liquid and money market funds — debt schemes that bet on high-quality short-term bonds. Data from Franklin Templeton show arbitrage schemes, whose assets under management have reached an all-time high of ₹1.64 lakh crore, saw the highest inflows across fund categories in the last 12 months to the tune of ₹67,500 crore. Arbitrage funds aim to benefit from the price anomalies between a stock and its futures contracts by simultaneously buying and selling both of them. The strategy is considered low-risk because it does not bet on the direction of the market.

More savers ditch bank deposits to flirt with equity
savings account (CASA) deposits — can no longer be taken for granted with the average urban saver increasingly tilting in favour of higher-yielding Dalal Street instruments, such as mutual fund plans and direct stock ownership. And the already visible struggle for deposits could intensify further for the industry with the biggest index weighting — and overseas ownership — as democratisation of technology and familiarity help lift the veil on the hitherto opaque and esoteric world of D-Street for the average rural saver, fundamentally altering the dynamics in the handling of financial savings to the detriment of high-street banks.

«The move shows that bulls are in control thus participants should continue with a “buy on dips” approach until Nifty decisively breaks the 21,800 level. At the same time, we are seeing a mixed trend within the sectors so participants should maintain extra caution in stock selection and prefer counters with higher relative strength,» Ajit Mishra, SVP — Technical Research, Religare Broking

The Boys Season 4 schedules release date in summer
The Boys Season 4 has got a release date update which is on June 13, 2024. The announcement has arrived with the latest poster which featured Homelander played by Anthony Starr besides Victoria Neuman portrayed by Claudia Doumit. In the case of Season 4 performing like the earlier ones, Prime Video will be having a greatly successful year with the announcement of the show, which has an entirely new sequel set in Mexico. The major sardonicism is that The Boys is taking amusement in how the genre of the superhero has become a product that is always expanding with the universe fundamentally doing the same including the 2D animated content.
