India's love of homegrown single malts shakes up Pernod, Diageo
Oak casks, once used to store bourbon and wine, are stacking up in a distillery near New Delhi, filled with ageing whisky as workers churn out almost 10,000 bottles a day of Indian single malt Indri, recently named the world's best whisky. Sugarcane and mustard fields, not peat bogs, ring the distillery, where the two-year-old Indian brand's owner Piccadily is ramping up production and building a three-hole golf course to lure connoisseurs and tipplers in the whisky-loving nation. As India comes into its own as a maker, not just consumer, of whisky, its single malts are reshaping the country's $33 billion spirits market. Established global brands such as Glenlivet, made by France's Pernod Ricard, and Talisker by Britain's Diageo fight for shelf space with local rivals Indri, Amrut and Radico Khaitan's Rampur. Unlike many Asian countries where beer dominates alcohol sales, India is predominantly a whisky-drinking nation. Global awards, increased affluence and a mass of drinkers trying new brands while cooped up during COVID-19 have rocked India's whisky landscape, industry executives and analysts say. Aditya Prakash Rao for years drank foreign brands but now increasingly buys Indian malts for himself and for gifts during festive seasons.

Good News: You Don’t Have to Sleep With Your Spouse
Ever tried to get a good night’s sleep with your partner snoring or tossing around restlessly next to you? You’re gonna like this: Therapists and sleep scientists say it’s OK for couples to sleep apart as a growing body of research shows the striking importance of sleep. It’s a reversal from the long-held marriage tenet that once partners move to separate beds, the romance is dead. Sleep is “essential for a healthy body, mind and relationship," says Wendy Troxel, clinical psychologist, sleep scientist at Rand and author of a book on couples sleeping.

India vs South Africa 1st ODI: Predicted XI, pitch, weather reports, when and where to watch, live streaming
«You have to give them time and make them feel comfortable. There’s no added pressure from my side,» he said. Despite the challenges, Rahul expressed confidence in the ability of the newcomers to adapt quickly to the South African conditions and perform well in the series. India enters the ODI series with confidence, following their impressive 106-run victory against South Africa at the same venue. The series holds significance as it marks the arrival of a fresh line of players and will help in building up towards the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. For KL Rahul himself, it is an opportunity to secure the ODI captaincy for a longer duration with a successful outcome. While players like Rahul, Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer have already showcased their skills, others like Rinku Singh, Rajat Patidar, and Sai Sudarshan will be eager to prove themselves and secure a place in India's white ball scheme of things. The absence of key players from both teams presents an opportunity for these young talents to shine. India will rely on bowlers like Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh to lead the pace department in the absence of senior pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. The spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal will play a crucial role, especially after the Johannesburg pitch showed a leaning towards spin in the recent T20I.
