(Reuters) — Chicago Fed president Austan Goolsbee said it is «undeniable» that the slowdown in U.S. inflation is a trend rather than a momentary blip, despite a recent string of economic data showing persistent pressure on some prices, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

Although price moves remain contained in the absence of a dramatic weekend escalation, world markets are still on edge as Middle East tension builds without obvious resolution.

Royal Enfield has launched an assured buyback program for its motorcycles with OTO Capital. The program aims at ensuring a smooth and seamless ownership experience for customers, Royal Enfield said in a statement. OTO Capital is a Mumbai-based finance start-up that offers loans to two-wheeler buyers on flexible terms which involves leasing a two- wheeler and also buying it at the end of the lease tenure by paying the residual amount. The program with Royal Enfield includes flexible tenure options spanning from 1-3 years, up to 45% lower EMIs, and a guaranteed buyback value of up to 77% depending on the tenure coupled with a cash back incentive at the end of the tenure, this initiative is a first-of-its-kind in the industry. The maker of Hunter 350 and Continental GT among other motorcycle brands has launched the assured back program at a time when the competition in the middleweight motorcycle segment where it leads, has been heating up with the entrance of Bajaj-Triumph and Hero-Harley models. The motorcycle-making arm of Eicher Motors has committed its highest ever annual capex of Rs1600-Rs1700 crore for FY24.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering jumped 12% to Rs 150 in Monday's trade on BSE after the firm reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 24.6 crore, marking a 60% increase compared to the net profit of Rs 15.4 crore recorded in the same period last year. Russia has joined China's restrictive measures imposed on imports of fish and seafood from Japan, Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said on Monday. Japan started releasing treated radioactive water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean in August, and was heavily criticised by China, which immediately banned all seafood imports from Japan. Russia said the restrictions were imposed as a «precautionary measure» and will remain in place until comprehensive information is provided showing if the seafood is safe. From January to September 2023, imports of fish and seafood from Japan to Russia totalled 118 tonnes, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
