In a message on social media network X (formerly known as Twitter), Goyal said he held a bilateral meeting with the US counterpart Tai. «Discussed key bilateral issues of mutual interest and explored ways to give further impetus to the growing India-US partnership through enhanced trade and investments,» he said. An official has recently said that both countries are looking at ending their last trade dispute related to poultry in the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Besides they are also looking at enhancing the partnership by permitting companies in both countries to participate in each others' government procurement. In July, India and the US mutually resolved six trade disputes pending at the WTO, in line with the commitment made by the two countries during the US visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June. During Modi's US visit in June, a joint statement said that the prime minister had expressed India's interest towards being recognized as a Trade Agreements Act-designated country by the US to further enhance the integration of both economies and promote bilateral trade and investment. In this regard, the two sides have welcomed the initiation of discussions at an official level on issues related to bilateral government procurement. Baghel on Saturday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking investigation into the toilet construction in the state during the previous BJP government. Despite Chhattisgarh being declared as an Open Defecation-Free (ODF) state in 2018, around 15 lakh families are yet to have access to advanced toilet facilities, he claimed. Baghel also demanded an incentive of Rs 30,000 for toilet construction for these families instead of Rs 12,000. In the letter, the CM highlighted the findings of the National Family Health Survey-6 (2019-21) conducted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which showed that 88.2 percent of urban families and 73.5 percent of rural families in Chhattisgarh have access to advanced toilet facilities. Overall, 76.8 percent of families in the state are using advanced toilet facilities, he pointed out. These statistics were corroborated through inspection during the recent social and economic survey conducted by the state government, Baghel said. During the previous (BJP) government, 32 lakh toilets were constructed at a total cost exceeding Rs 4,000 crore and the state was declared as ODF in January 2018, he said. But around 15 lakh families still lack access to advanced toilet facilities which is a matter of concern and should be investigated, he said in the letter. There should be an independent investigation into the issue, Baghel said. He also requested approval for the construction of toilets in the Left-Wing Extremism-affected and inaccessible areas through the gram panchayats.

State Bank of India (SBI) has launched a new feature where its customers can enrol for various social security schemes using only their Aadhaar card number, the bank said in a press release on August 25, 2023. SBI customers do not need their passbooks or other documents to join social security schemes anymore, the public sector bank added. “Customers visiting Customer Service Points (CSPs) of SBI will need only their Aadhaar to enrol in social security schemes.
