Banned militant outfit ULFA warns organizers to avoid Hindi songs during Assam's Rongali Bihu festival
United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) has warned the organizers of the Bihu functions and prominent singers to avoid singing Hindi songs during the first seven days of the Rongali Bihu festival. Rongali Bihu (spring festival) is celebrated in April. Bohag is the first month of the Assamese calendar and the Bohag Bihu marks the beginning of the new Assamese calendar year. A statement issued by the Ulfa faction on Thursday said that as Hindi songs are in no way connected to the Bihu celebrations, they appeal to everyone to avoid performing Hindi songs during the first seven days of the Rongali Bihu or Bohag Bihu. During Rongali Bihu, many Bihu functions take place in makeshift pavilions with cultural functions for a couple of days “As the month of Bohag is coming, most of the Bihu organizing committees are busy making plans to organize the Bihu functions. However, of late there is a general tendency to organize functions which mainly focus on Hindi song performances. The Ulfa (I) would not allow this to happen,” said the state signed by the Assistant publicity secretary of the banned organization Ishan Asom.

Kanye West reportedly holds the ultimate card that could bring down the Kardashians, and Kim just made it worse
Kim, furious about the association, may reconsider custody arrangements. However, she reportedly fears Kanye's ability to reveal Kardashian family secrets, escalating the conflict. Kim Kardashian made a polite statement just as his declining mental health was ending their marriage. Having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she urged fans to have «compassion and empathy» for Kanye West, calling him «a brilliant but complicated person,» as quoted in a report by the Daily Mail. Kanye's actions, such as his tirades about being a Nazi on X and his public displays of his second wife, Bianca Censori, at the Grammys, must have tried Kim's patience numerous times in the years since, but she has largely remained silent to protect their kids. The rapper has now crossed a line, though.

The evolution of Holi songs in Hindi cinema: From Bachchan to modern hits
Rang barse' and 'Hori khele Raghuveera' so often that I have Bachchan coming out of my ears. For the uninitiated, both songs are based on traditional numbers that were reimagined for Hindi cinema. Amitabh Bachchan sang 'Rang barse' in Yash Chopra's 1981 film Silsila, and is one of the singers for 'Hori khele Raghuveera' from 2003's Baghban directed by Ravi Chopra. Up to the 1980s, songs and dances revolving around Holi were routine in Hindi cinema. While the colours and energy intrinsic to the festival were its primary attractions for filmmakers, they also often steeped Holi set pieces in symbolism, or used them as a segue into high drama in the plot. Sometimes these songs contained expressions of longing and sorrow, emotions that were underlined by their contrast to the unbridled joy of most of the characters present. Sometimes they were an excuse for either consensual romance or sexual harassment. In Mehboob Khan's 1957 Mother India, heartache, flirtation, and misconduct were all packed into 'Holi aayi re Kanhai' picturised on Nargis, Raaj Kumar, Sunil Dutt, and Rajendra Kumar.

Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, & Team India’s epic groove to ‘Rang Barse’ in 2023 still a hit this Holi
To get us into the festive mood, let’s take a delightful trip down memory lane with a throwback from 2023. Cricketer Shubman Gill posted a video that featured him and Team India celebrating Holi aboard a bus ahead of their fourth Test match against Australia. The entire team was caught in the spirit of the occasion, dancing and laughing together, but what really made the video stand out was the soundtrack—a classic Holi anthem, Rang Barse Bhige Chunar Wali, played in the background, bringing even more energy to the celebration. For those wondering which song we’re referring to, it’s the legendary track from the 1981 Bollywood movie Silsila.

'This is horrifying!' K-Pop fans lash out at company seeking audition from girls as young as 3 for debut
Seo Hye-jin under Crea Studio. Despite Seo Hye-jin’s history of producing hit shows, Under 15 is generating buzz for all the wrong reasons. The show is actively scouting children between the ages of 3 and 15 from more than 70 countries, sparking widespread concern. Reports indicate that the producer’s goal is to form a group with an average debut age even lower than NewJeans’ 16.4 years, raising ethical questions about the industry's growing push toward increasingly younger idols. As the introductory poster of one of the contestants, eight-year-old Kim Ga Yoon, went viral on X, several netizens condemned the induction of such young children, pointing out that they are vulnerable to predators. Many also objected to the name of the programme, saying that such a suggestive name would attract the attention of pedophiles.

Stylised as a free-spirited character with a bohemian vibe, 'Ruh' is the female avatar of a pop star or an 'A-Pop' star, as their makers would like to describe the genre. A-Pop refers to a harmonious mix of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with human interventions to create music. It could mean lyrics penned by a human being sung by an AI-driven 'singer', visually an amalgamation of real and AI-generated imageries.

This is what the top of the bull market looks like with a lag: Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath after winning entrepreneur award
Zerodha co-founder and CEO Nithin Kamath, who was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2024, struck a cautionary note on social media, hinting that his accolade might be a delayed indicator of a market peak. «This is what the top of the bull market looks like with a lag . A broker winning the @EY_India entrepreneur of the year 2024,» Kamath posted on X, formerly Twitter, on March 6. He added a cinematic touch to his reflection, referencing the melancholic Bollywood song Zindagi Kaisi Yeh Paheli from the 1974 film Anand, a song that contemplates the unpredictable nature of life, which played in the background as he received the award, adding a reflective, almost ironic undertone to the moment.
