Fully invested? It makes sense to have some cash, invest in a phased manner: Sandip Sabharwal
Sandip Sabharwal, asksandipsabharwal.com, says “the way the entire midcap index has moved, speculative stocks have moved more than the sort of established companies, etc so there is definitely froth. We need to be careful what we are buying. There are still opportunities in the midcap, smallcap segment where these companies might do well over the next two, three years.”Let us talk about sugar, the sweetest pocket in the market right now. Since you monitor the sector very closely, is it time to add positions further or would you say wait for a dip perhaps?Sugar has been one sector which has not performed despite a lot of things going well for them, both in terms of the weather disruptions in India and globally, which is going to cut this year's production growth. In some countries, we might actually see declines. We see global sugar prices at multi-year highs.

What high net worth investors can expect from private credit funds
₹6.96 trillion, up by around 24% on a year-on-year basis. Debt AIFs function like a fund, where an investor entrusts its savings to a portfolio manager, and the portfolio manager pools savings from various investors and uses that pooled corpus in lending investments on behalf of investors. So, investors in private credit funds get exposure to multiple fixed income investments for the same amount of investment and active portfolio management of those investments.

Tata Motors tests export markets for EVs, to roll out EV-only dealerships in India
Tata Motors, India's biggest electric carmaker, is testing its electric vehicles in some global markets where it could look at a potential launch if the experiment succeeds, its managing director told Reuters. The tests are in early stages and based on how the cars perform, Tata may need to make some changes to the product before it can finalise and develop a «go to market» strategy, Shailesh Chandra said in an interview. «It is about which markets I should be in, with what products and with what kind of distribution strategy. We are assessing some markets, running our cars, discussing with business partners,» he said. Chandra said it was too early to discuss details of the export markets and there would be more clarity next year. Tata also plans to roll out new car dealerships over coming quarters in some Indian cities that will exclusively sell EVs as sales of its clean cars gain momentum and it lines up faster launches of new electric models, Chandra said. Sales of EVs globally have been growing as tighter emission regulations push carmakers to increase the share of electric cars in their portfolio.

HC seeks response from Reliance on govt appeal accusing co of committing 'fraud, unjust enrichment of over $1.729 billion'
Reliance Industries and others on the government’s appeal that accused the Mukesh Ambani-owned conglomerate and its partners of committing an “insidious fraud” and “unjust enrichment of over $1.729 billion” by siphoning gas from deposits they had no right to exploit. Attorney General R Venkentaramani and former AG KK Venugopal, appearing for the govt, argued that RIL in 2003 knew about the connectivity of its block with that of the adjoining ONGC block. They also accused RIL of ‘consciously and deliberately’ extracting and selling the adjoining ONGC gas without the government’s knowledge. The senior lawyers also argued that RIL had earlier taken a categorical stand that “there is no connectivity and continuity” between RIL’s and ONGC’s block.

Alien fraud! Mexico's Congress debunks 1,000 year old extraterrestrial claims
Lawmakers gathered in Mexico City to listen to testimonies from researchers representing Mexico, the United States, Japan, and Brazil, all proposing the intriguing possibility of extraterrestrial life. This event mirrored a similar one in the US Congress just two months prior when a former US Air Force intelligence officer claimed knowledge of «non-human» activity dating back to the 1930s. One of the focal points of this session was Mexican journalist Jose Jaime Maussan, who presented two boxes containing what he and others believed to be «non-human beings unrelated to our terrestrial evolution.» These desiccated, shrunken bodies with warped heads left those in the chamber astonished, sparking a surge of social media activity. Maussan emphasized the significance of DNA analysis, stating, «It's the queen of all evidence.» However, he refrained from categorizing them as «extraterrestrials» at this stage. These enigmatic bodies purportedly date back to 2017 and were found deep underground in the Nazca desert of Peru, famous for its colossal, mysterious geoglyphs.

India's presidency at G20 a breakthrough, says Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar
India's G20 presidency was a breakthrough, said Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, adding there was legitimate and rightful recognition of a resurgent India as a global power. Addressing the research faculty of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) at Sapru House on Wednesday, the Vice-President noted the widespread appreciation for India's role during its Presidency of the G20, and the success of the recently concluded G20 Leaders' Summit. Emphasizing that India was in a defining moment in history, the vice president urged researchers to make people aware of the achievements of the nation, stated an official release. «You are the window for every outsider to the country, and for every Indian citizen to the world,» he underlined. Highlighting India's rising stature on the global stage, the Vice-President traced India's journey from being part of the 'Fragile Five' to being the fifth-largest economy in the world. Dhankar added that some of the accomplishments that were taking place in India had once seemed beyond imagination for the world. «They can never imagine that this could happen in a country that has diversity of religion, caste, creed and language,» he elaborated. He urged research scholars of ICWA to be at the forefront of countering «pernicious, sinister narratives that are floated periodically about India». Stressing the need to engage in in-depth analysis of such narratives, the Vice-President said, «Your role is important in neutralizing such a crafted strategy only to taint, tarnish, demean, and decimate our Constitutional institutions.» The Vice-President, who is also the ex-officio President of ICWA, inaugurated the renovated library of ICWA at Sapru House.

Creditors to IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power reject NARCL's offer
The Committee of Creditors for IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power Company (ITPCL), a consortium of 17 banks led by Punjab National Bank, have turned down a proposal from the National Asset Reconstruction Co (NARCL) to acquire the debt of ₹9,000 crore and is moving ahead with a debt restructuring plan. During a meeting held last week, the lenders' committee rejected the government-backed bad bank's offer, a source said. Lenders felt that NARCL's offer of ₹4,700 crore in a 15:85 structure was below their recovery expectations through the debt restructuring process. Under 15:85, 15% of the amount is paid upfront while the remaining is paid by way of security receipts. «Lenders have rejected NARCL's offer as the company has cash of around ₹3,000 crore which will improve their recovery in case of restructuring,» a source said.
