Rs 350 samosa, Rs 250 tea, common man forced to buy overpriced items: AAP's Raghav Chadha exposes high prices and air travel woes
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha brought attention to a series of ongoing issues with air travel in India, stating that the government has failed to deliver on its promise of affordable domestic airfares. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday during a discussion on the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, Chadha highlighted the numerous challenges passengers face, from rising ticket prices to overcrowded airports and high baggage charges. Chadha began by emphasising that economy class, once regarded as an affordable option for the average traveller, is no longer economically viable. Quoting his own experience, Chadha pointed out that airfares for domestic flights have reached unreasonably high levels. «Economy class is no longer economical. Before coming to the debate in this house today, I was checking flight rates on my phone. If I have to travel from Delhi to Mumbai tomorrow, the ticket costs 14,000 rupees. The cheapest one-way ticket from Delhi to Patna is 12,000 rupees, and from Delhi to Bangalore, it’s 16,000 rupees,» Chadha said. He added, «And forget that, just the day before yesterday, I travelled from my region Punjab to Delhi. I took a flight from Mohali Airport to Chandigarh Airport and reached Delhi. The ticket for that flight was 14,500 rupees.»

AI-driven, deepfake-enabled cyberattacks to rise in 2025; healthcare, finance sectors at risk: report
cyberattacks are anticipated to become increasingly prevalent in 2025 with sectors like healthcare and finance most prone targets, according to a recent report. The India Cyber Threat Report 2025 by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and Seqrite, spotlighted the evolving tactics of cybercriminals and the rise of AI-driven attacks as a major concern. «Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to develop highly sophisticated phishing campaigns utilising deepfake technology and personalized attack vectors, making them harder to detect. AI-driven malware will adapt in real-time to evade traditional security measures, while data poisoning attacks will compromise the integrity of critical AI systems in sectors such as healthcare and autonomous transportation,» the report noted. Deepfake technology will create compelling malicious content, including fake video or audio messages from trusted sources. This will facilitate more effective social engineering attacks, making it easier for cybercriminals to deceive users into executing malware or revealing sensitive information, it added.

Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines provide India's third leg of nuclear triad: Navy Chief
nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) provide the third leg of the nuclear triad. He added that the next SSBN will be commissioned in the «coming months». «As far as the nuclear weapons are concerned, our stated policy is of no first use. And therefore the government had decided about the nuclear triad. The SSBNs provide that option for the third leg of the nuclear triad, which some people feel is the most reliable because it remains underwater and therefore not likely to be detected easily,» Tripathi told on the occasion of Indian Navy Day. «We have obviously commissioned the second ship in August, and it is carrying out various trials, and then we'll do whatever she's supposed to do. And similarly, next one, in the coming months and years, it will be a part of our navy and provide the nation with an alternative for deterrence as also the second strike capability as part of a nuclear triad,» he added.

Pete Hegseth was pushed out as the head of two veterans' advocacy organisations amid internal allegations of mismanagement and personal misconduct. The two non-profit advocacy groups — Veterans for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America — both led by Hegseth have the recording apart from other evidence of financial mismanagement and inappropriate sexual advances, according to the report. Reacting to the fresh claims, Hegseth's lawyers said these outlandish claims must have come from a «petty and jealous disgruntled former associate».

BofA paints robust picture for American economy, says US is more likely to export recessions than import them
Bank of America is betting heavily on behalf of the American economy as it has claimed that the US economy is poised for solid growth in the coming year, with chances that the annualized rate of economic growth could surge to 2.4% in 2025, instead of the usual 2% every other year, according to a Bloomberg report. The US economy-related predictions from Bank of America comes in even after there are growing concerns about Donald Trump's economic policies which are reportedly inflationary in nature. The various campaign promises about illegal immigration, imposing tariffs on foreign imports, along with tax cuts for corporations, could all pile up and generate a condition for an epic inflation in the American markets in 2025, according to many market experts. 'On the face of it you are a corrupt person': SC to West Bengal ex-minister Partha Chatterjee
Supreme Court on Wednesday told former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, held in an alleged cash-for-job scam in the state. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, which reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Chatterjee, questioned the enforcement directorate (ED) over his continued incarceration saying he cannot be kept inside for an indefinite period. «On the face of it you are a corrupt person. Crores of Rupees were recovered from your premises. What message do you want us to send to society? That corrupt person can get bail like this?» the bench told senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Chatterjee. Rohatgi said except for his client all other co-accused persons were granted bail in the case, the latest being a week ago.
