Govt proposes task force to push for 500 GW renewable energy capacity target
Pralhad Joshi has proposed formation of a task force in consultation with the Ministry of Power to push efforts to meet India's ambitious target of having 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030. The minister for new and renewable energy has also urged industry players and stakeholders to devise strategies which would help the country meet the target in a time-bound manner. Speaking at an event in Bhubaneswar, the minister proposed the formation of a task force, in consultation with the Ministry of Power, to align the efforts of all stakeholders towards meeting the 500 GW target, the ministry for new and renewable energy (MNRE) said in a statement on Thursday. India has already achieved 212 GW of energy from non-fossil fuel sources and is on track to exceed the 2030 target, he said.

Maharashtra Elections: Devendra Fadnavis on BJP's narrative change after LS polls, CM's post, Maratha quota and more
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is on a whirlwind campaign, addressing almost five rallies a day, in the run-up to the Maharashtra polls. Excerpts from an interview with ET’s Krishna Kumar & Jatin Takkar: On BJP’s narrative change after the LS polls: During the Lok Sabha polls, the opposition played up the narrative that reservations will go away, which pushed Dalits away. Secondly, adivasis were polarised against us. After the elections, we went to the people and even they realised that reservation will not go away. The entire fake narrative has been wiped out. Also, there was ‘vote Jihad’ against us as in several constituencies. Now, even if it happens, the impact would be limited. MVA has not realised that due to this voting pattern (of Muslims), there is a subtle feeling among people that if such things happen, then it is not good and pressure groups could be created. The Congress accepting their demands of the Ulema, especially the one where they have agreed to release rioters from 2012 to 2024, is dangerous and will backfire on them.

"Ajit Pawar was with Anti-Hindu idealogies, it will take him time," Devendra Fadnavis on NCP's opposition to 'Katenge to Batenge' call
Ajit Pawar has publically spoken against this slogan while his compatriot Devendr Fadnavis has defended it. In an interview with ANI, Fadnavis said that it will take time for Ajit Pawar to understand the public's mood as had stayed with anti-Hindu idealogies for a long time. «For decades, Ajit Pawar has stayed with such ideologies which are secular and anti-Hindu. There is no real secularism amongst those who call themselves as secularists. He has stayed with people for whom opposing Hindutva is secularism. There is no real secularism among those who call themselves secular,» Fadnavis said speaking to ANI.

Dehradun accident: After-party night joyride goes horribly wrong, six young friends killed on spot
Dehradun on Monday. The victims were returning from a party when their vehicle, a multi-utility vehicle (MUV), collided with a container truck. The accident occurred near the ONGC intersection. The MUV was traveling at high speed and hit the left rear side of the truck. Police Inspector KC Bhatt stated that early findings suggest the truck driver was not at fault. “Since the MUV’s driver, who owned the vehicle, did not survive, we are looking into legal alternatives as no charges can be filed posthumously,” said Bhatt. The impact of the crash was severe, killing five of the passengers instantly. The sixth passenger died later in the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Guneet Singh, Kamakshi Singhal, Navya Goyal, Rishabh Jain and Atul Agrawal, all residents of Dehradun, and Kunal Kukreja from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. The sole survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal, is currently hospitalized.

Lenovo plans global factory expansion as Q2 results beat; eyes AI growth
Lenovo will further diversify its supply chain and plans to open more manufacturing facilities outside China amid global geopolitical uncertainty, Chairman Yang Yuanqing said. Lenovo, the world's largest PC maker, has most of its plants in China, a common situation in the electronics industry that creates potential vulnerability as US President-elect Donald Trump threatens to impose 60% tariffs on Chinese imports. Yang told Reuters that while it's too early to predict the new US administration's policies, Lenovo has an advantage over competitors in hedging such risks through its more diversified manufacturing base and sourcing strategy, as well as balanced regional revenue streams.

IPO-bound HDB Financial stock soars in unlisted market
HDB Financial Services heads for its initial public offering (IPO), shares of the nonbank lender owned by the country’s most-valued bank in the unlisted market have seen a sharp rise — up to ₹1,200 apiece. After the IPO plan was announced, the shares rose to a high of ₹1,400 apiece before settling at ₹1,200. However, brokers in the unlisted market say the euphoria is not justified as they expect the IPO to be priced around ₹750-₹800.

RIL shares at an attractive entry point, says CLSA
CLSA said Reliance Industries’ shares offer an “attractive entry point” at the current levels. Retaining its ‘Outperform’ rating with a price target of ₹1,650, implying a 30% upside. The firm said the start of new energy projects is a potential catalyst for the stock. RIL shares were up 1.2% at ₹1,266.9 on Thursday. “Reliance Industries stock has cooled off from its all-time highs as a delay in the possible IPOs of Jio and/or Retail led to reduced excitement towards the stock. Slowing growth in the retail business has been another negative,” said CLSA’s analysts in a client note.

Shut it down! Vivek Ramaswamy wants to close FBI and sack 1.5 million employees under Trump’s new cost-cutting department DOGE
Vivek Ramaswamy has now been handed over the responsibility of cutting government expenses alongside Elon Musk in an all-new department known as 'DOGE-Department of Government Efficiency'. And the first thing that Ramaswamy and Musk are reportedly planning on doing is closing down the FBI that could cut off a majority of unchecked government expenses. He is also thinking of sacking nearly 1.5 million federal employees under his 'shut things down' strategy, which is already raising fear in the hearts and minds of federal workers across the country, according to a previous ET report. Ramaswamy will now have the power to shape the priorities of the new department and it will operate outside of government and provide recommendations to the White House on huge chunks of expenses from the multi-trillion dollar federal budget. This Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE was actually the brainchild of Elon Musk, the billionaire who has become one of Trump’s closest aides throughout the Presidential campaign, and has been constantly rooting for the idea of a cost-cutting commission on the campaign trail.

Boat sets sail for $300-500 million IPO with bankers on board
audio products brand Boat has finalised ICICI Securities, Goldman Sachs and Nomura as bankers for a $300-500 million IPO next year, sources aware of the matter said, joining the queue of new-age firms looking to go public. New Delhi-based Boat may aim for a valuation of over $1.5 billion, sources said, adding these numbers may change closer to the IPO filing. It’s targeting a public offer in next financial year. Boat had filed draft papers for a public offering in 2022 but halted those plans citing market conditions and raised $60 million in private capital through convertible preferred stocks notes from existing investor Warburg Pincus and new investor Malabar Investments at a minimum valuation cap of around $1.2 billion. “ICICI Securities is the lead banker for the issue and they are looking to file for next financial year,” one of the persons said. “In total they have finalised four bankers.”
