COP29 climate talks grapple with trillion-dollar task
Money is a focus at COP29 whose success is likely to be judged by whether it can agree a new target for how much richer countries, development lenders and the private sector must provide each year to help developing countries finance the transition to greener energy and protect against extreme weather. Reaching a deal is likely to be especially hard at a summit where the mood has been soured by disputes and pessimism about shifts in global politics.

Congress gave 'Garibi Hatao' slogan but looted poor: PM Modi
Congress gave the 'Garibi Hatao' slogan, but looted the poor, adding that the party's mentality was to ensure that the poor did not progress. «If the poor are benefiting, you feel happy, but the Congress doesn't feel happy over this,» Modi said, addressing a rally at Panvel in Maharashtra for the November 20 state assembly elections. «The Congress is far ahead when it comes to vote bank politics, but is the enemy of the poor,» Modi said.

How TReDS is revolutionising payments for MSMEs in India
small businesses in India get paid faster, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The system, called TReDS, allows small businesses to sell unpaid invoices to banks and other financial institutions. “TReDS has effectively bridged the credit gap by enabling MSMEs to promptly convert their trade receivables into liquid funds. This ensures that small businesses do not have to wait endlessly for payments,” said RBI Deputy Governor Michael Patra. Small businesses often struggle to get paid on time by their larger customers. This delay can make it hard for them to pay their own bills and grow their businesses.

Four men allegedly molest bride in train; miscreants beat husband with belts when he tried to stop them
Even after the couple alighted at Aligarh railway junction, the harassment continued. The miscreants beat her husband with belts when he tried to stop them, said ToI's report further. The woman’s desperate cries for help eventually caught the attention of people on the platform, leading to a police alert. However, she claimed that instead of taking immediate action against the attackers, the Government Railway Police (GRP) initially detained her husband. This led to protests by the couple’s relatives, who arrived at the station. Following the uproar, the GRP released the husband and filed a case at the Aligarh GRP police station against the assailants.

Infosys' Narayana Murthy feels issues like Delhi pollution remain unsolved because of Indian mindset problem
Infosys' founder Narayana Murthy recently said Indians failing to solve problems as the main factor behind issues such as Delhi pollution remaining a persistent problem for the country. «Which area has (India) invented? Please give me an example,» Murthy during an inter highlighting the country’s dependence on adapting foreign technologies rather than creating innovations. Murthy said that India has yet to solve long-standing issues like Dengue and Delhi's pollution, despite these being persistent problems. He questioned why the IT services industry should be singled out for criticism when the country as a whole has not addressed these challenges.
