Slack down? What is the status?
Slack faced another round of issues, marking the second outage in a week. Users encountered problems with viewing images, and some even reported being unable to access the app altogether. This outage could prove disruptive for numerous workplaces relying on Slack to communicate with colleagues, especially as remote working continues to gain popularity. The technical difficulties occurred during the working day in both the UK and the US, according to a report. Just days ago, there was another major outage that affected users worldwide, preventing them from signing in or sending messages. In contrast to the previous outage, the current problems did not appear to affect all users universally; instead, they seemed more confined in scope. On Wednesday, Slack's official status page acknowledged the issue, stating that users might experience difficulties loading threads, admin pages, and images. The company said that it was actively investigating the matter, as per Independent report. The outage resulted in a considerable surge of users reporting issues, as shown on the tracking website Down Detector. However, it remained uncertain whether the problems were limited to specific platforms or regions. Slack boasts over 200,000 paid customers, including 77 of the Fortune 100 companies. Notable among its clientele are major US firms like Target, Uber, Expedia, and Airbnb. The app's widespread use among such significant enterprises underscores the impact of any service interruptions.

School reforms under NEP 2020 must not be allowed to languish
Ensuring all children in India get good education requires ensuring children have access to schools and that schools are delivering quality education. Our education system prioritized access to education and the quality of what is delivered in classrooms got overlooked. In order to achieve the goal of universal access, driven by the values of equity and inclusion, the system has put its effort behind building schools, making sure that teachers are deployed, equipping classrooms, etc.

CPI may hit 6.2% by end of Q2, says Morgan Stanley
NEW DELHI : Morgan Stanley on Wednesday said it expects India’s retail inflation to leap to 6.2% at the end of the quarter ending September, against its previous forecast of 5.5%, due to higher prices of food. However, the consumer price index (CPI) is expected to moderate to 5-6% in the second half of FY24. The investment bank said despite its core inflation forecast for India remaining unchanged, it maintains the base case of a shallow rate cut cycle from Jan-March 2024.

Tech View: Nifty breaks below 20-DMA. What traders should do on Thursday expiry
Nifty ended weaker by 207 points but above the support at 19,500 a long negative candle was formed on the daily chart with minor lower shadow. Chart readers said this pattern indicates a sharp negative reversal in the market as the index has ended below the 20-DMA of 19,622, which was holding on as support since the up move started in April 2023. The daily momentum indicator has a negative crossover which is a sell signal, and the indicator is still away from the equilibrium line indicating that the weakness can continue.

How the Trump fake electors scheme became a 'corrupt plan,' according to the indictment
Donald Trump's desperate effort to cling to power after his defeat in the 2020 election is at the center of a four-count indictment released against the former president Tuesday. The third criminal case into Trump details, among other charges, what prosecutors say was a massive and monthslong effort to «impair, obstruct, and defeat» the federal process for certifying the results of a presidential election, culminating in the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The 45-page indictment states that when Trump could not persuade state officials to illegally swing the election in his favor, he and his Republican allies began recruiting a slate of fake electors in seven battleground states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — to sign certificates falsely stating that he, not Democrat Joe Biden, had won their states. While those certificates were ultimately ignored by lawmakers, federal prosecutors say it was all part of «a corrupt plan to subvert the federal government function by stopping Biden electors' votes from being counted and certified.» Here's a deeper look at how the scheme unfolded, according to the indictment:

The other spoilers: Just normal monsoon won't keep inflation in check
inflation is getting tougher. While concerns over the monsoon seem to dispel, food inflation might yet remain high. The RBI has recently said that the fight is far from over and monetary policy has to stay the course to align inflation with the target in this last leg of a strenuous journey. India's retail inflation rate is likely to breach the central bank's 6% tolerance ceiling again due to sticky pulses and cereal prices even as vegetable price pressures ease, pushing policymakers to raise inflation target in August meeting, Nomura has said in a report. Factors other than the monsoon have been increasingly shaping food inflation. A case in point is the 6%+ inflation print in three of the past four normal monsoon years, argues a Crisil report. Monsoon has been normal/above-normal at an all-India level over the past four years. Predictably, foodgrain production has risen in these years. Even then, food inflation, as measured by CPI, remained above 6% in three of these four years. The southwest monsoon started with a delay and stayed in deficit in June. However, it caught up well in July, and currently stands at normal (4% above long-period average, or LPA) as of August 1.

What a Slowdown in Spending by Some Marketers Means for Ad Holding Companies
Some advertising holding companies have been reporting weaker-than-expected organic revenue results, raising questions about what that could mean for marketers’ spending with agencies in the quarters ahead. Some experts say the results don’t signal major problems ahead for ad companies such as Interpublic Group, Omnicom Group, WPP and Publicis Group, which own creative and media-planning and buying shops among other specialties.
