ICICI Bank beats estimates to post 17% rise in Q4 profit
ICICI Bank, the second largest non-state lender by assets in India, on Saturday reported a better-than-expected 17% increase in net profit for the fourth quarter, helped by strong demand for loans and lower provisions. Vande Metro trial runs to begin in July 2024
Vande Metro trains will begin in July 2024. According to officials aware of the move, these trains will eventually ply to and fro over 100-250 kms distances connecting 124 cities across the country. Identified routes include Lucknow-Kanpur, Agra-Mathura, and Tirupati-Chennai, among others. The trains will focus on carrying passengers between large urban centres and satellite cities, running on existing tracks of Indian Railways. «Vande Metro trains are oriented towards high acceleration with frequent stoppages. These trains will have 12 coaches each, large automatic doors with side seats,» an official working on the project told ET.

NCB seizes ₹300 crore worth drugs, 150 kg 'meow meow' from Gujarat, Rajasthan
₹300 crore after busting a busts "whole network of clandestine Mephedrone manufacturing labs" in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Deputy Director General (OEC) Gyaneshwar Singh said in a press release on Saturday that a joint team of the NCB and Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) conducted raids at three “suspected locations" – Bhinmal in Jalore district of Rajasthan, Osian in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and Gandhinagar in Gujarat. They recovered 149 kg mephedrone (in powder and liquid form), 50kg Ephedrine and 200 litres Acetone.

Vedanta demerger likely to get nod from lenders by May end
Vedanta by the end of May, a senior executive at the natural resources conglomerate told ET. «Right now, the file is with Sebi. The important step that remains is securing the lenders' approval,» group chief financial officer Ajay Goel said. Mumbai-listed Vedanta had announced a demerger in September last year.
